The site I used to use stopped working over a year ago.
I think this is the best option, but the limit on how much you can load with this is much less than the one I used to use.

There is a forum user on this board that has Kayaker as part of his user name, I think he is the most knowledgeable of the various options at this time.

Copy the *.img file to \Garmin. Feel free to rename the file (keep the .img part).
Make sure it’s enabled on the device.
Don’t open the img file in Windows. Windows thinks it’s some other type of file.

I started with the Latin version and even tried some of the others. After I load it onto the micro SD card and install it in the Garmin I go to Maps and it is not showing to be Enabled. Last night I redid it and before I removed the card from the computer I opened it and it was 0 bytes. Then a message about corrupted disc.
Thoughts?

I guess you aren’t seeing it in the list at all?
(You should see it in the list as enable or disabled.)
Note that the img file has to be in the \Garmin folder on the we card.

I can't say what the OP is using, but I use a general recreation grade GPS. I have loaded topo maps, automotive road maps, and cycle maps onto my GPS, a Garmin 64 and also a Garmin 62S. I use my GPS units for biking, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking and hiking. I know that there are others that use general recreation grade GPS units on this forum too.
