Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bad news: it’s below freezing.

Good news: it’s sunny and low winds, and I should pass 8K for the year on today’s ride.

Is riding after work with lights an option?

In the last few years of my, so called, career I regularly woke at 4:30am to be on the road and ahead of crippling rush hour traffic. I preferred going to work at 70mph vs 25mph. When I retired a few years ago continuing to get up early was easy. "If I could get up that early all those years to work, I sure-az-ell can get up that early to PLAY."

Then when everything went "pear shaped" this year, getting up that early was, again, easy. Dawn patrol getting all my miles in before the "normal" woke up and got out there. Just do it. Dawn is a great time of day.

Since I woke up it dropped from 41* to 39* here so I'm staying indoors. In fairness, I also refuse to get winter clothes for the rather rare use cases for them here; next week the lows will be in the 50s and should be ok.

We've got 36ş but forecast winds 15-25 with gusts to 40. On the good side, we're headed for 55ş by noon.

Hang from arms. Daily. Works.

If you wait until it's injured to do this, it'll be too painful. But if you start while it's feeling good, you may not ever injure it again. Cold in the fall has always played tricks on my back, sudden barometric pressure changes too.
