Mrs datlas and I went on a hike this afternoon. Halfway through our walk, a couple came by walking in the opposite direction. I gave a friendly hi and waved. The wife smiled and waved, but the husband gave us a dirty look and said "Vietnam is THAT way" and pointed in a direction off the path.
I ignored them, but part of me wanted to get in his face like Robert DeNiro in Taxi driver...."you talking to ME?" style.
Probably best that I did not do that, but people full of hate need to keep it to themselves and/or go back under the rock they came from.
p.s. mrs datlas is Korean, in case people don't know

Based on noises, I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the rear wheel hub. Additionally, there really seemed to be something interfering with power transfer. I know I'm not strong, but come on--14 mph on my relatively flat route?

But to add context to my "joke," I'll say this: in case anyone has missed it, there's been a ton of inexcusable #^&* going on in the world lately. And if I don't have at least one outlet for levity, which is generally this thread, we may need to find an institution for Velo Vol . Just sayin'.

Did 60 mile today with 10 others. Here, we are taking a bathroom break on the MUP before we go and do a loop on the hill in the background. I'm sitting on the wall behind my bike.

My second coastal ride in two weekends. I don't like the south coast so much because of the crowding and the northern coast rides involve too much driving. These two rides turned out very well, though. Here is a fountain with Catalina Island in the distance.

There is German woman in the bike club here, married to a former US soldier. On one ride we happen to be riding together when I hollered out bathroom break and stepped into the woods 'till out of sight of the road. When we got going again she said when European men have to pee, they stop and pee and this is evidently normal. She did not say what ladies do in a similar situation.
