Many years ago, I saw this bike listed on Ebay for a couple of hundred dollars, or even more. Year after year, the bike was listed, the price dropping with each new listing. Today, at $75.00 US, the seller is still trying to find a new home for the bike. Does anyone else know of any Ebay Long Haulers..?

It was originally listed before the first lockdown in March last year; I've been waiting for the seller to make a significant amendment (downwards!) in the price but it hasn't changed since the original listing. Shame, as it's close enough to collect, the right size, and exactly the type of bike I like.

Up until a year or so ago I was routinely doing eBay Campy searches for various builds and spare parts. For about 3 years a Saronni colorway Colnago Victory was listed for BIN $1249 kept popping up. Not there anymore - kind of like an old friend that’s moved on ...

This "Denali mountain bike" listed for $2,500 fits the bill. There was a Peugeot Deauville near me listed for $1,000 for the better part of a year a couple years back, I might've posted in the "wacky eBay/CL" thread. That one eventually sold when it landed in the 500s, IIRC. This Denali hasn't budged in price for months, it's ridiculous anyone could think it's worth that much $$. I thought they accidentally added an extra zero at first, but I guess not, after months of re-listing.

Not vintage, but it's been up for at least 2.5yrs and I so want it. I came close to buying it when I was visiting family a couple years ago, but it would have required a 5hr drive through OH to pick. I surprised no one has bought it yet, as the price isn't bad and it not that far into the sticks. Makes me wonder if there's a reason. Someday I may check and see if there are an facilitators in that area.

I had that frame several years ago but it had a Profile carbon fork. Good bike. Unless you live in a big city, using eBay local pick up only almost guarantees a non sale for most bikes unless the seller wants to basically give the bike away. A lot of people might see “Airborne”, look it up and see the Chinese made aluminum bikes company. These were quality built, well finished bikes, but went out of business (or transitioned to the Chinese made aluminum bikes) 8-10 years ago.

I worked a couple of seasons for them doing shipping/recieving and would really like to get one of those ones with the welded A headbadge. At the time, I was able to convince my wife to let me get one even though it was pretty big stretch. Ended up with their track frame, actually the prototype with 130 spacing and chainline issues. The only other one I ever saw during my time was the owners'. Cost at the time was $425, retail was ~$2k. Would like to get another frame that's a bit more usable to go with it, probably any model other the manhattan since it had the tightest tire clearance.

Somewhere there's a Carpe Diem cross bike with custom rear entry trackends and a derailleur hanger that was originally created for me, but they let me go before it came in and I couldn't afford it when it finally did.

Just about any bike listed in my area on CL is there for months, often years. No matter what it is, there's no takers around here unless its free or close to it.
I listed a mid 70's Nishiki International, 25" frame, in really nice shape for $150, it was listed for four years before it finally sold.
I had a 21" Nishiki custom sport in almost new condition from the early 80's for $100, it was listed for 19 months.
I listed a 23" Raleigh Sports in fair but rideable condition for $100, it was up for four years.
A smaller frame Raleigh Marathon took five years at $125 in near mint condition, and it took almost 8 years to sell a Gitane Tour de France in all original condition, with good tires for $225.
Yet if I list a Huffy cruiser or old Sante Fe 10 speed, they beat the door down to get it.
I sold one of those dirty diaper brown Huffy three speeds last month for $200. The guy actually came to look at a Raleigh and took the Huffy instead. I had two of those Sante Fe beige 10 speeds with the Positron shifting in pretty clean shape, as a joke I put them up for $400 each, they both sold the same day to someone who drove all day to get here. Yet list a Legnano, Trek, or Peugeot, and my email goes silent.

group of vintage bikes collected over the years. 9 mostly complete -2 frames. most roll fine but all will need tires, tubes etc etc. There is a few schwinns, columbias, raleigh, BSA, bauer, rollfast, JC higgins.

Some really cool stuff hopefully someone can appreciate and bring back to life. I would prefer to sell them all to one person but might consider splitting them up if necessary.

This Lotus was listed on Ebay for $360 for several years. Not there now--perhaps the seller gave up, or maybe the world famous nature of the bike actually induced someone to buy it.

This is one of my favorites. Been on Ebay/CL for at least 5 years. Started at $900 IIRC, now down to $400. So maybe dropping $100 every year? The persistence of re-listing it every few weeks is pretty incredible to behold.

This 1987 Schwinn Prelude (which is a proper touring bike according to the folks at Bicycling) has been for sale for at least 5-7 years. I noticed it when I first got into bikes. Same photos, same price ($380 lol), everything. I love the color, but it's too small.

I can't remember any long-haulers in particular but one thing that really bugs me about eBay is the lack of an "ignore" feature that lets you check off a box next to a search result to permanently remove it from future searches. Many of these long-hauler type bikes and other items keep cropping up over the years as unwanted clutter in search results over and over again like that unwanted relatives at family reunions, and there's no way AFAIK of getting rid of them.

This clown has had obsolete Thule racks up for $225 for two years. I think I'm the only guy with old Volvo Thule crossbars that will suit them, but I keep finding them for $20 a pair every year or so.
Nova Scotians don't negotiate. They put a price on something and let it rust away before they'll give it up.

when you get into the world of Japanese NJS Keirin frames priced north of $800 (3Rensho, Nagasawa, etc.) you'll see a lot of long haulers. Same with very rare, very desirable early carbon bikes like the Look KG196 or Colnagos from the later 80s / early 90s.

Yeah, I have a pipe dream that I will find one in my size (laughable to imagine a Keirin rider on a 60cm Panasonic) so I do a search every once in a while. Some of those frames have sat on there for many years.

See also: any bike I try to sell on Craigslist. My Trek 400 Elance has been on there for maybe three years? People say they're interested, but in the time it takes for me to email them back, they've always "found another bike."

While I agree that you'll probably never find a used 60cm NJS track bike, you can have one made. You can still special order them from Panasonic or Bridgestone, as well as Samson and Nagasawa.
