I found a big can of WD40 at the base of the sidewalk ramp on a pedestrian crossing years ago. Was still full and lasted me 2 years. One of my favorite finds.

In January I found my first heroin needles. Out in the middle of nowhere.

Man, I never see that kind of cool stuff.

I did have one freeway I used to drive to work, though; it was the type that had barriers on each side and forming the median, so anything people lost just stayed on the freeway. I had a running list of the interesting things I saw (often during rush hour traffic was moving slowly enough, or was at a standstill, that I could check out the "merchandise"). There was one long screwdriver I still wish I could have nicked (I had the urge more than once in standstill traffic to just jump out of the car and grab it!). And then of course the usual ball caps, single shoes, occasionally kids' toys, etc.

Someone throwing out a bag of kid's stuff would make me wonder... I can't think of any happy situation that would lead to that.

Baby rattlesnake

Yesterday, I saw a baby rattlesnake on my bike trail ride. I circled back to shoo it away, so yeah, it really was a very small rattler. Sorry, no pics!

I went on a date wearing a nice pair of earring I had just brought the day before. At the end of the date I put my helmet on and biked home but at some point my earring had come out! it was winter so the next morning I got up early and biked along my route really slowly shining my light on the ground looking for shiny things. I found my earring! Still together with that person, he is lovely

It obviously was locked, but recent messages would pop up on the screen briefly. There were a lot of messages from the same last name, and tracked down what was the women who lost it son on facebook.

Kept seeing this securing strap laying in the bike lane on my rides. A few days later the buckle mechanism was disintegrating and pieces were spreading out (showing that cars do veer into bike lanes - hopefully when a rider isn't there). Stopped to pick up a couple pieces and ended up getting all that I could see - and throwing the belt into the desert.

This morning, a dead snake, about 3ft long. The patterning looked potentially rattler-y to me, but it had no rattle. The head was crushed.

Also a new 'Little Free Library' was installed on my route (not on the ground, it was up on a post like usual). It included 3 books by James Baldwin, I'm going to google a bit and see if I'm interested, maybe grab one out on the way home.

Sorry, no pics...

Deer, turkeys, Canada geese, money, turtles, I found turtles crossing the road are a bad omen sorta like the black cat myth,

snakes...

and the Mississippi River...

It floods almost every year and the MUP on the river usually is under water for a part of it.

I found a chrome Cornwell shorty 1/4 inch drive ratchet today, they're about $80 on the Cornwell site. About a week ago I found a small all aluminum LED light that sells for $8! it wasn't working because the fall onto the pavement messed up battery holder spring, so I wasn't able to fix it 100% but I got it work anyways, for $8 I'm not even sure why I bothered to fix it! LOL!

I once found 42 one dollar bills strewn over a bowling alley's parking lot. It was about 7:00 in the morning; no one was there, just me and the money.

And yes I checked, but there were no money trees growing nearby.
