It's a "Cannondale", or is it.

So trawling the used bikes and found this:
https://cnj.craigslist.org/bik/d/lin...309464305.html

My question comes from the labels look like they came of a home printer, the seat says Huffy, and the welds look a bit chunky for a Cannondale of that era.

So, is it actually a Huffy?

Lowest of the low crankset, nutted axles, and nutted calipers? You already know the answer. Flag and report on C/L.

Who knows if its a Huffy- I doubt anyone is up to date on Huffy's offerings thru the last couple decades.

It isnt a Cannondale. The main triangle tubes of this bike are all shaped differently than any Cannondale Ive seen and the wishbone seat stay design is also different.
Those are the easiest/fastest/most obvious clues for me. Im sure there are more if others want to play a bike version of Where's Waldo and find more reasons why it isnt a Cannondale.

GMC Denali would be my guess. For some reason when I see a "faux decal" Denali it is mostly Cannondale. However, this attempt is really lame.

You beat me to it; I just couldn't get logged on quick enough. GMC Denali for sure or something else using the same frame from the same manufacturer. The Denali has exactly those tube shapes and the bulge on the seat tube.

I am disappointed though. Ten minutes of additional work and he could have made a much better "clone" bike. There are tons of decals available on Ebay!

And oddly the weakest of crankset. I have seen huge numbers of those cranks that have the tapers rounded out. The cranks have iron in them but it’s alloyed with just about every other metal know to man. Those cranks are quite possibly made from the slag off of the top of the iron melt.

My first thought was GMC Denali. Looks like a few others who saw this before me did too.

With a label maker, you can even make your Chevy a Lamborghini.

Hilarious. Not even the right font. Do not pass ‘Go’, Do not collect $200 (or $100). When the bike gets wet will the name run?

Huffy in the 80’s is an interesting story. Between Ben Serotta and Mike Melton and the Lemond Huffy Elite department store bike, there is a little bit of everything.
