Hi folks,
Does anyone have a decent route to get from the DC area to Annapolis? I don't see an obvious route and it doesn't seem to be a common route looking at heatmaps and Garmin or Strava. I'd like to make a DC--> Annapolis --> Baltimore trip, and the bit from Annapolis to Baltimore is easy. Any personal experience on the West/East route would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done DC to Annapolis for years but a recent alternative is the route the East Coast Greenway takes - look here. It is not the direct route as it tries to be on trails as much as possible.

A few years ago I was coming back from FL with my bike and taking Amtrak into Union Station in DC and put together this route to get to Annapolis - here. That trip changed so I never did the full route but I did ride from College Park to Annapolis on that route later.

There are a lot of different routes that you can find by searching on RideWithGPS here.

Annapolis Road to Defense Highway seems like the most direct route.
