Today was a bit rainy all day so I was inside putting decals on along with a couple of calls with VeloCals to get the SL frame decal and fork decals. Also got a set of decals for the PDG frame on the way. I still have a couple of small bits to attach and the clear coating begins. It will be ready for a new owner soon. Smiles, MH

Looks good but I would have painted over the serial number to seal it better. You would still be able to read it.

The frame will be completely clear coated after decals so the detail of the serial number will be easier to identify and read. The clear will prevent rust so no problems. Smiles, MH

A couple of hours today with the fine water paper to clean the frame up and a trip to find tack cloths before more clear coat. It is much better but not to the deep shine I want yet. I think one more coat of clear should bring it up to another good frame for someone who can ride a 61cm. Velocals has sent the SL frame decals but they have yet to arrive so waiting for the final clear coats. After that it will be looking for a new home. Smiles, MH

The final decals have arrived and been installed. Two coats of clear over all decals and now the frame has a good sheen to it. I would like to post a few more pics of the finished product, but today was cleaning up from living in tornado alley. Loss of electricity and waiting for the guys to come repair the 7,000 volt line. I hope to get them posted tomorrow. Smiles, MH

I’ve been following this saga with great interest. I’ve just picked up a Paramount project myself. S/N: 580DKW B91023. Per Waterford (https://waterfordbikes.com/w/culture...amount-dating/) I understand this to mean: 580 – 58cm frame; D – Indicating a longer fork length (range from A-E)?; K – Built for Paramount; W – From the Waterford factory; B – February; 91 – 1991; 023 – 23rd frame scheduled during that month.
The bike had been living a rough life abandoned at a rack. A bit of sleuthing uncovered the former owner, no longer in town, who was happy for it to be moved on. There are some paint chips and rust spots, but not the bubbling under the paint seen in this frame. I think given the diameter of the tubing (25.6ish top tube/28.8ish down tube including paint) it should be Columbus either SLX or the SL/SP mix? There is no tubing decal or remnants in sight.Build was/is Shimano 600 (mostly 6400, with 6403 brake calipers). Finishing kit includes a nice set of Paramount bars made by 3ttt, a less than svelte Kalloy stem and unbranded 27.2 seatpost and a pair of generic black plastic pedals. Tires and tubes were disintegrating. Disassembled almost everything today except the pedals, which remain firmly stuck and the (Ritchey?) headset. Next step is to start giving everything a thorough clear, including the frame and taking a more detailed inventory of paint issues.
Ultimately, this bike is going to be too big for me, but I’m curious as to what can be done with it. This thread and the subsequent sale post give some really nice insights, thanks!
