Good bike stores in Minneapolis/St Paul area?
Traveling thru next week and wanted to shop and browse a bit. Not looking for any bike in particular but might want to check out some Surly’s.
recommend me one or two worth checking out. Thanks.

Northern Coffee is still in the original location, less than a block away from the new ACF storefront. Grab a donut, Danish or teacake from A Baker's Wife, on the corner, if it's early. If it's not early, grab a beer and a bite at Buster's, next door, and talk bikes with John at the bar.
Erik's and Freewheel are the two regional chains; Specialized and Trek are their primary lines, respectively, but have other brands as well. Tangle Town carries Surly and is a nice little shop... but it's little. If you venture towards the west side of the metro, Tonka Cycle also carries Surly and should also be in full Fat Bike mode, if you're in to winter cycling.

Grand Performance in St. Paul if you want to high-end bikes (Bianchi, Wilier, Colnago, Moots, Kona and the occasional Ritchey.) And if you want to see where Steve Hed started building wheels before starting HED Cycling.
If you're checking out Tonka Cycle you might as well check Jonny Rock Bikes on the other end of Hopkins. They typically have Surlys in stock and can have some other interesting machines around. With all the light rail construction going on Jonny Rock can be a bit difficult to get to however.
Gear West in Long Lake is another shop. Lots of tri gear, they carry Trek, Niner, Felt, and Cervelo. And they have one of the biggest XC ski shops in the nation next door, and an Alpine ski shop across the patio.
