That replacement rigid fork appeared to me to have a way too long steerer.
besides cutting to length there must have been some additional threading cut?

Looks fantastic, by the way. I'm sure you get lots of good comments when out riding. Most people simply don't see such a classic-looking machine, these days, certainly not one in that condition.
