Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cool! Looks like a fun bike.

I got a gravel bike recently. It's a blast! I'm having a lot of fun on route combinations that I would never do on any of my other bikes. It handles non-technical singletrack really well, and climbs faster than my MTB (as long as the grades don't get too steep for too long). On the road, it's efficient enough not to feel like I'm pushing a pig.

The undefeated season was nice, but the schedule was not that strong.

I’m also a recent TCU hoops fan - primarily due to Jamie Dixon

I would bet they do. TCU has an extremely wealthy alumni and fan base in Fort Worth.

LAJ is on hiatus. Too much time spent here as well as time spent being a mod on the site has caused him to back out. He's Ok.

On the phone with AA for a half-hour trying to pay for a ticket. Not to ***** or complain, but to pay. Pulling my hair out.

I did once. They were a couple of weeks booked out, despite the "get it taken care of on your schedule" promises.

It was during the worst of the pandemic, which I'm sure didn't help.

A fantastic ride today in fantastic weather conditions. Late Dec./early Jan. weather is to die for. In the brutal heat of summer, we can't believe these days will ever come around again. But they always do. And are gone far too quickly.

The nurse at my infusion this morning repeatedly marveled at my low heart rate.

I thought about saying that it came with being a serious athlete, but my physique should have made that obvious.

The Echo Tech who did my echocardiogram said, "Your usual heart rate would be a near-death experience for me!" I was nervous, so it was faster than usual. Somewhere around 50.

The other day, Mrs. GeneJockey was concerned she might have taken 2 of one medication instead of 1 each of her two medications, so I had to reassure her. One of the symptoms of an OD was tachycardia, so I checked her pulse. 80bpm. I had to look it up - 80 bpm is smack dab in the middle of "normal" for a woman in her 60s. It seemed so high to me!
