Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ok. I think this one makes the podium of our favorite cars. The color (night blue metallic) is my all-time favorite. My next bike will likely include this color.

The actual car.

I'm taking tonight off. I ate twice today, and I feel like a cow. I'll ride in the morning.
I started working on my Firebird again a month ago. I let gas prices and the new car pull me away from it last year. I found some reasonably priced Corrvette Sawblade wheels for it. Swapped the tires around and put those on. I've been chasing some vibrations, and the wheels helped. Turns out 2 of the Speed line Pontiac wheels were bent. I finally swapped in the new front shocks I bought 2 years ago. They're struts so you need to compress the springs. The nut at the top had to be chiseled off due to rust. That was nerve racking, sweaty work. Felt like Bugs Bunny testing munitions with a hammer. The best part, I finally solved the engine issue I've been chewing on since I built it. It just never made the power I thought it should have. It turned 330 on the dyno. I was a little disappointed but I figured every engine is different. That combo made 450 flywheel when Hot rod magazine tested it. Subtracting 20% for frictional loss through the automatic trans, drive train etc, should have been 360 hp at the wheels.
Not if you have 2 intermittent fuel injectors! Also contributed to the vibrations I was feeling.
I had retraced the ECM wiring again, even rechecked my sources for the diagrams it all came back correct. So I fired the parts Cannon at it. Purchased a refurbished set of factory injectors. It's like a different car now. A much smoother, faster car. I'm going to rebushing the suspension next with all Polly Urethane bushings and sway bar mounts. and maybe get the quarter panel fixed.

I had a nineties-something Vigor also. Fun to drive, that car could boogie. That's the last non-Toyota car I've owned in the last 40 years.

I'm a big fan of Origin8/Formula cartridge bearing hubs. It's really amazing how smooth they are for the price.

Nice!

I’m disappointed that they discontinued the Golf Alltrack, I loved those things. Love wagons in general.

My next car will likely be one of Outback, V60 or Audi Allroad (all wagons). Honestly it would be 100% the suby if they didn’t have a crappy CVT paired to a decent turbo.
