Ron, nobody asked Pinigis to bring back the FSIR spin frames? I thought it is still being sold in Asia? He would have to ask to be a US distributor. The spin 3.0 (16" wheel) and 5.0 (20" wheel) bike frames are good.

ok, I tried our new 33.9mm seat post in an original Swift frame and it fits. I think 34mm may have been a round off.

We can add a Bafang mid-drive pretty easily. But, the biggest chainring you can get with one is 52t, so you will bring the top end down to where other folders perform.

If the chainring size is limited to 52t, the solution is to then use a smallest cog smaller than 11t, 10t or 9t with an XD or XDR freewheel (of course, its not optimal as this smaller cog will wear faster, but its not such a big problem if it isn't used to often).

1. How wide a tire will come with the bike?
2. How wide a tire could be used on the front and rear, in your estimation?
3. How wide is that rear rack? (was looking a small panniers that need less than 5 inches)

Would the folding stem from the Origami Bull be easily installed on the Swift?

No, the Bull uses a threadless headset and the Swift is threaded. We could use one from the Cobra; the angle would be good but it would be rather tall.

I always wished my Xootr had a folding stem. Just having it detached was a hassle.

sure. We would just cut off the top of the steerer tube and use a curved (non-height-adjustable) folding stem.

That is great article. It's funny that the Swift cost $695 in 1997 and we have it on preorder now in 2023 for $699. Yes, that price is only temporary, but the similarity is interesting.

Glad the Swift is alive in some new iteration. Peter Reich's (& the West Coast partner's, I forget his name ) design is nearly perfect & doesn't overly rely on propitiatory parts, so components can be switched out to ones liking : customize and improve ! Can ya get 451 wheels onto the new design?
I love the green and the front chainring. Fun stuff.

Maybe this is a mad one, but I'll throw it out there.

I had a funny thought today while I was sitting on a bench soaking up sunshine ('tis a cool day even though it's sunny and I've ridden out to Motril near the coast this morning). I sat myself down examining the silver paint job on Xootie under the sunshine and thinking that in three years or so and many kilometres of riding, this frame is beginning to look kinda lackluster. Lots of little scratches and dings and whatnots. Maybe time to consider powdercoating it. Then my eye caught something that even when I first had a Swift has always struck me as a bit ugly and unaesthetic, and that's the little black label indelibly clear coated on the seat tube telling me to "ride safely, read the manual, avoid slippery conditions and use proper lighting at night Xootr L.L.C. etc". This detail always seemed unnecessary and not exactly pleasing to the eye.
...and then I thought of the image on the little Moroccan change purse I transport my bud in when I'm out riding. It's maybe too pink for many people's taste, but it is emblazoned with an ancient protective symbol you might be familiar with, commonly called "the hand of Fatima".

So, that got me thinking... Maybe to honour what came before, affix a beautifull hand of Fatima design in exactly the same spot on the seat tube where the ugly old safety logo went with the simple words "Go Safely" written beneath.

Maybe this is a silly idea? Perhaps it's too mysticsl? Anyway I realise that it's maybe probably too late; likely the frames are already painted and decaled, ready to ship. But then again I thought it couldn't hurt to throw it out there just in case it isn't too late and this idea appeals to Paul. I do think it would be quite aesthetic, would get the safety message acroslls much more eloquently and would be like invoking mystical protection for all who ride the bike.

If it's not a goer for the Origami Swift, I'll probably add it to my own Xootr if I ever do get around to a new powdercoat. But I think it would look rad and lovely on the new bikes.
