Bike Forum group ride

There was a suggestion in the "Knock, knock" thread that there should be a PNW Bikeforums ride. I have ~250 routes in RWGPS and have led many group rides with friends. Most of my routes start in Redmond, WA because I've found a large free parking lot that's 1/2 block from a good beer joint. These are usually Sunday rides. I'm having a health issue right now which I hope to be over and back in shape by say early June, so this is aspirational as of this date.

I ride a tandem with my wife and we are not fast, at least not anymore. Our team age will be 152 in June. We usually do 40-60 mile rides, 40'-50' of gain per mile, which is what the terrain around here does if we stay on rural roads as much as possible. We usually average ~13.5, so I'm used to posting more than one route for different speeds, starting and ending at the same place and hopefully at about the same time.

Anyone who's definitely interested should PM me their email addy.

And anyone who's also interested in leading a PNW ride, please post. I realize that Redmond is not the center of the world for very many people.

Anyone interested in participating in a ride wherever and of whatever difficulty, post your interest. We'll see what happens.

I have not checked this forum for a while.
I would absolutely be honored to ride with other BF folks.
Redmond is good for me. Only better would be Renton or Issaquah.

Marymoor Park as a start offers several choices.
Around Sammamish Lake is a nice loop, regardless the start town.
A small group could use the more crowded multiuse paths.

Renton has The Cedar River trail - a straight out and back trail to Maple Valley. And Lake Washington options.

I could ride tandem or 1/2 bike, but my stoker's schedule is an issue if going with the power bike.

Like I said, if you want to participate in a ride, you have to PM me with your email address.

I might be interested as well, but this thread would be a perfect place to organize. Much prefer doing it here than via email.

Not how I do it. I don't like to ride with random people, or blab my business all over the internet. Anyone wants to do it another way, have at it.

In similar fashion, I don't like to share my email with random people, and would much prefer a ride with strangers [to be] organized in public. Different strokes for different folks.

(clarity edit)

I've used MeetUp for both golf and ski outings. My wife has gone hiking thru the app, and we've both gone kayaking with a MeetUp group. That might be a good way to organize a ride group/event.

Oh . . .I have no problem organizing group rides. I have over 200 local emails in my Google Group, all folks I've ridden with and who have passed observation as reliable and courteous riders. I post a ride almost every Sunday when it isn't raining here. 10-15 years ago, we all rode in the rain, so every Sunday it didn't freeze. I just thought it would be fun to meet and ride with some BF folks. Post 8 shut that down, too bad, could have been fun.

Cycling is a little different in that one's safety is in the hands of one's fellow riders. Occasionally a new rider will want to join our group, but they usually come with bonafides and still have to ride close to another group rider for 2 rides, safely and humanely, to get put on the list. We're proud of our safety record.
