Replacing Brake Blocks
I want to replace my 20 year old Ultegra rim brake blocks. I would think that they need it. They are not worn out, but hard. Should I stick with Shimano brand, or is there something better?

Kool-Stop make a good line of replacement blocks/pads as well as complete pad/holder assemblies; I have had good luck with their salmon compound.

+1. Kool-stop Salmon colored are the best I've used including SwissStop's versions. You'll notice a big improvement in stopping power and control over your current pads. Also less wear on your rims. I have to say Shimano's pads have improved greatly since 20 years ago so possibly the latest pads work very well too but I have no experience with them.
