Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

These bikes are pretty hot. They are pricey and I reckon if I insist on custom geometry to fit my mutant body, the price-tag goes up even more. Sigh.

I can see that being very attractive for those folks who like metal. Personally, I'm a fan of carbon fiber.

I still pick up a 6 pack of High Life every once in a while for the nostalgia factor. That and Mickeys fueled more than one night of fun back in school.

Because the headtube and associated junctions are cast, there is no custom option. Well, I'm sure that you could throw piles of money at just about anything to make it work, but, as designed, the process doesn't lend itself to custom.

Yeah, I know. And I am satisfied with my Habanero for now.

I would consider a fully custom crabon bike someday, but that's going to cost something like 6K+ for just the frame/fork. Not likely to happen.

Oh, man! I forgot all about Mickey's! I've gotta pick up a sixer of hand grenades sometime soon. One of the guys that I used to work with, just after having turned 21, got us in to the habit of grabbing a pack and popping 'em open just after we locked the doors for the day. Ah, memories!

Pretty sure I bought Kenny Bernstein a few engines, in my day.

Of course, I'm old school, and I like NASCAR. Pop one of those beers in front of me that you have to chew, and I'll say "no thanks".

That's a very very attractive bicycle cycle.

Casting is an interesting choice for lug production, especially since I can't imagine they're making a whole lot of those bikes. The tooling cost and PITA factor is way way up there. Maybe they deal with casting houses that do better work than the ones I deal with though

My current favorite bleeding-edge Ti builder is probably Sturdy though...although he seems to use round tubes.

Custom 3D printed lugs, stems, seatposts, cranks, and forks too!

Why not just a few 40s?

Gotta love the little pictogram riddles on the underside of the caps, too

I can't even imagine.

Save some cash, and get him a six pack of Pepsi, some Lemonheads, and a pound of sugar. Mix em up in a nice big mug, and then turn your head. I know I wouldn't be able to watch.

Back in the day I used to prefer Miller's over Bud, but eventually when in Rome you gotta do what the Romans do.

I used to do that, way back in the day. It was usually on sale somewhere for $3.00 per 12pack of cans in the mid-80s. Sometimes Pearl was cheaper, so we'd do our TX beer thing that way. Wonder if Pearl is still around...

Last I heard, CA is a couple of weeks behind that schedule. I think I'm finally eligible (50+) on April 1....but they might be foolin'.
