Went back to the co-op's dumpster for some small parts; DC cable carriers for centerpull and canti brakes, cable hangers, things like that. Got an adjustable stem with bars and Tektro levers with the linear pull brakes, that 32H DX front wheel I mentioned before, an unneeded but matching set of 700C road wheels in decent shape. While I was there some guy asked if there were any good 26 tubes and I handed him three front wheels with fully inflated tires. Amazing what they throw out.

WV is not flat..
A couple catches today. Nothing super fancy, but solid. A Windsor mixte with some cool lug work and an 89 Schwinn Impact (love the black chrome paint on this). Should clean up nice and probably flip these.

@brandenjs Those are great finds! I love the mixte and that chrome paint job is amazing. If I could find a mixte frame with the black chrome paint I would be in heaven.

Thanks to a PSA by WGB in the eBay/craigslist thread, I bought this Giant Kronos only five minutes away from home. The right STI shifter was gummed up, but that took only a few minutes to cure.

Also, you need to be aware that the Vent Noir (model) II is the one available in smoke chrome. The original VN, like the one you linked to, is only available in the matte black finish. Both very nice and probably no other differences in the frames other than the finish but if you want chrome, you should probably get chrome. Good luck!

That's pretty steep. I'd expect the price for a good one to be about half that but I'm no specialist. I did sell the bikes new.

My parts bin coughed up the shifters and seat; and a brand new $5 seatpost from the co-op got it back on the road. Going to flip this one as it’s too small for anyone in my family....

Bike Co-op reject, Olmos
Found this at the local co-op in their "strip" pile. A lower end Olmo. They wanted $10 for the shifters. Rear wheel missing, but I propped the bike up with this one. Yes, it is a wreck, but I love the lugwork. I tried to look up the serial number but their website is very hard to figure out. I think this is a 1970's, but don't know. There mechs are Shimano. Probably originally a drop bar? Or did they just put modern risers on it?
Does anyone know about this bike, obviously a lower end model, but still pretty.

Ageing Warrior
Found a few weeks ago dumped behind our communal bins. Much befuddlement on my part as to its age & model but not expecting much, especially with the 'groovy' paintwork.
Much, confusing, research later we have the answer: Bianchi Caurus Proto in Columbus Max tubing. This is going to be fun and vexing to blueprint, especially on my non-existent budget but I have my wife's loony friends in Italy on the case, hoping that they can locate the correct 'aero' fork, apparently unobtanium!

Over the years I have found many Park tools in the local pawn shop's bins of miscellaneous tools. Just last week two were found. Usually the price for miscellaneous tools is $5 for one handful. It's like Christmas when those blue handles are spotted.
