You paid too much, but fortunately for you it's my size. Because I feel sorry for you I'll give you twice what you paid for it!

Worth at least twice what you paid to those in the know. Panasonic still is making bikes, track bikes at least, and they are highly sought after. For a good reason. Beautiful color, paint looks great and the components look like they have have barely seen use.
Congrats!
Edit: Just for fun, here's a Panasonic track bike as an example. $1,266.00 USD. I'm not suggesting your bike is worth as much, but wanted to point out that Panasonic is well regarded.

I really need to start searching locally... That's a steal. $199 for a NOS DX-5000? On eBay that would've probably gone for $400-$500 quite easily at the right time of year.

700-800 local winter Jersey price very nice bike. This one looks near NOS so there will be a lot of info asks frame tubes BB serial and info numbers and maybe stear tube number details. All good you could see $1200 quick sale. to the right buyer.

Garage queens and creampuffs do come up from time to time. I was lucky to snatch a Centurion Ironman in the "Miami Vice" colors that had exactly 10 miles on it. How do I know? The woman bought the bike (she was almost 6 feet tall) in order to ride with her husband. She bought it brand new, went on what she said was a one mile shakeout ride to make sure everything worked and she could learn to shift then a 3 mile ride and a 6 mile ride. She hated it! Hung it up and never rode it again. It had zero scratches or scuffs in the paint and the components looked like they didn't even have 10 miles on them. Like I said, I was lucky. Right time, right place, ridiculous price. But she was happy. I was ecstatic!

How can abuyer seller take the time to picture and list a nice item, in this case classic minty vintage bike, without setting a realistic sales price?

I think the photos might be from the guy who purchased the bike. The seller just wanted it gone. If you aren't a collector one of two things happens generally. One, you have a rust bucket Schwinn that you somehow think is a grail bike and price it accordingly not knowing better. Or two, you have a mint-condition Panasonic that you figure is so old that nobody wants it really and you price it to move.
There's other reasons and variations of why things work out the way they do, but that's been my experience. I've had to deflate many seller's balloons when they thought they had something really special. But when I do it I show them proof with completed sale information or at least comparable bikes for sale elsewhere. Never had anyone balk. They take a reasonable offer and we move on.

Did you mean "how can a seller"?

One thing I think we can all agree on is that Panasonic made, and continues to make some very nice bicycle frames. I can recall the first one I saw and it was impressive. I began to wonder whether Casio, Samsung and Sony made bikes too! Maybe they have, who knows?
I hope the person that bought the Panasonic cherishes it. And I hope to see more photos and a ride report when it gets rolling.
