Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fair enough.

I get my MTB muddy enough regularly that I appreciate being able to carry it in the truck bed.

Not bad at all. If he's with the insurance company, don't imagine there's much paperwork, either.

Sorry about your back.

A couple of observations:

1. I would love an RS6
2. A well sorted 914 is not cheap
3. I am thinking about selling my C4S for a 2002

Gilbert (the gray) and Sullivan ( the Ginger) just being friends.

Our current and only car is a Jaguar XE. Since the tandem is a breakaway it can fit in the car. If I could have gotten the Shooting Brake here in the US I would have. I had an Fpace as a loaner when the xe was being English and, no thanks.

In the past I had a Series II Land Rover as my daily driver. They are not an SUV. It was English, but with so little electrical to go wrong it was a lot of fun.

My dad had a green 914 1.8 while I was in HS. It was in really good shape, and the only car that ever slept in our garage. Such a fun little car, despite the mediocre power. I was very bummed when he sold it.

Local cyclist was killed yesterday. He was in his 30s, Cat 3 racer, might have been cat 2 actually.

He was on his way down to Florida for an event, stopped in South Carolina for a ride and was hit by a truck.

I'm glad everyone got the car photo posting bug all worked out of their systems yesterday. We can return to healthy conversation.

Picked these up for the race tomorrow. It was between these or pink ones. I’m all for pink but the team colors are green and white. Pink won’t match, these won’t match either but the pink would work better if it matched. 14 bucks for polarized, not bad.

I havnt worn contacts Since my last race, so the hard part will be trying to put those in tomorrow morning while nervous.

Regarding vans: My wife and I often carry two bikes and a tandem on trips, thus a van.

I took the garbage totes to the curb this morning and it finally felt like winter - brisk, frosty, 18°, heading for a high of 25°.

The 914-6s are something. A nice one gets well over $100k.

The 914 4-banger was very underrated in its day. Certainly underpowered by todays standards, but everything in the 70s seemed to be. They sure handled well, turned on rails, were very “tossable,” and were fun to drive.
