1977 Schwinn LeTour II. Had it powdercoated 'dark orange', but some folks think it looks red. Who cares when it rides great. I'm representin' a darker shade of fall color!

I think that's his getaway bike for when he's running from the hue police. I have to admit, though, that front end is kumquat at best - definitely not pumpkin. Cool bike all the same.

LOL! Yes, a stretch. And the Land Shark X Shark is really more of a red/orange. But the Pinarello is spot on.

This might have been a bit impulsive, but it's not often you see one of these, and I figured you can't go wrong with another orange bike.

Oh my gosh Aaron. That bike's been rode hard and put away wet. Rough but, beautiful. Shame about that crank arm. What kind of cretin would do that!?

You going to do a full resto?

No question...it's rough, but I won't feel guilty riding it

I don't think I stole it, but I think I did OK...and I'm happy. She's getting some 28c tubulars and fenders (not Cinelli). I do wonder if the crank engraving can be buffed out.

Heck. Rough, schmuff. I like it. It's orange and, it's a Cinelli! Great find. That crank will be a challenge for sure. What year is it? Where'd you get it?

Man, I'd love to re-paint that head badge for you, but
it kind of looks good with the bike as-is.

You'll lose the anodizing, but you can remedy that crankset without too much work.

I'm really tempted to just leave it rough for right now...maybe one day, down the road, I'll restore it...but this is going to make it more fun to ride. Sure - it won't win any shows, but I won't worry about leaning it against a pole either!

She went up to the CR list this morning from bikeville/Via bikes. I swung by to take a look at lunch and it spoke to me. She's rough...the pictures don't lie! Joel thinks late 60s, probably a 68, based on not having the drilled fork tanges. He's pretty certain it's pre-boom and the frame details are actually quite nice. The filing is really smooth. It's a true diamond in the rough.

My attraction to it is that it has good clearance and fender capability. It also has some pretty early campy bits. I'm putting on Challenge Parigi Roubaixs and Via is getting some Italian period'ish fenders (not springing for Cinellis). Another plus is that it was owned by a very light woman for the past bunch o' years and I'm hoping that means less stress to the frame as I intend to use this on some gravel.
