As far as I’m concerned, I would suggest the Cannondale Quick bikes. They are light, comfortable, and have the gearing that you can keep up with the casual road bike guys on the road yet can still ride the trails. I would tend to discribe them more as “flat bar road bikes”. I changed the tires on mine to some 25c sport tires, but other then that it’s unchanged.

I should note I have a “real” road bike when I go ride with my Sons friends in a local bike club

I wish they would sell some of their RoadLite fitness bikes here in the US. I have written the US office a few times without any reply. I guess they think that there isn't a market for high level flat bar bikes here...... and maybe their right.

Really great quality,even in the typically forgotten details. Even the cheapest bike has shimano hubs.

But I tend to think those qualify more as flat road bikes with the 30 mm tires. Not sure if they can have wider tires, though.

For that reason Canyon US is only able to ship their specific inventory within the US and Canyon Europe is only able to ship their inventory within their designated countries as well.

Joined the forum today and I’m happy to introduce myself. Lifelong Alaskan with a history of non-technical and casual trail riding. Nowadays is to have fun with my 7 year-old daughter more than anything. But I want to start riding to work. Bought a road bike once and it scared the hell out of me so that didn’t last long. Anyway, I’m in Portland, OR for a work conference and I want to purchase a hybrid before I return north on Sunday where the options and prices have a laughable inverse relationship. My in-store and online (thanks everyone for this forum!) research lands me on the Trek FX2 or 3 or the Sirrus Sport. Budget is under $800. My riding will be on mostly paved roads with intermittent plow truck gravel-throw. An average of 8 miles per day, down our steep bluff on the way to work and then the slog back up at days’ end. The return is a significant extended incline so hill comfort and efficiency is a main consideration for me. Here in PDX today there is a 2017 Sirrus Sport for $750 out the door. My size is built and ready to go and the color very much to my liking. I’ve only window-shopped the Trek as the store was closed when I stopped by. I love the look of the Sirrus, less-so the Trek from what I could see online. Other than hill-handling of course is quality and value at their comparative price-points (I believe the Trek is a bit more but I also think it’s the 2018 model). Thoughts if you would please? I fly home tomorrow and need to make my move. Thanks all. Happy to be part of the group and have access to your wisdom.
