Was given to me, I don't really want it. is this a junker?

No, I wouldn't say a junker. If it doesn't fit you, sell it on CL or maybe overhaul it and sell it for a little more. That's a very respectable bike, perfect for a first timer looking to try out road biking, IMO.

Those first-generation aluminum Treks are terrific bikes with an interesting history. The Trek designers (who probably still included Tim Issacs at that point) were very careful to spec tube diameters that allowed them to avoid being successfully sued by Gary Klein's litigation-happy lawyers.

You might be able to get a little to 100. I sold one a gew months back same color and all for $120... Needed a liytle TLC but bothing major.

Could be the original! 88/89 1200's had chro-moly forks. But it's hard to tell with that one photo

I donated a '91 (unicrown) with RX100 throughout, good shape and raised $200 for my girls B-ball squad. These are nice light bikes, good wheels and parts. How could they not be worth that much?

It doesn't look like this bike was ridden much, and it ought to clean up really well. Whoever you sell it to is going to get a really nice entry-level road bike.
If I was a little taller and in NE Indiana, I'd be tempted to make you an offer. As a buyer, I'd be happy if I took it home for under $100. Of course, you could ask less, aiming for a quicker sale.

I think the guy who owned it was only around 5'6"

By conventional sizing, that bike was too big for him. And judging by the stem & saddle height, it's not set up for a 5'6" rider.
For sake of comparison, I'm 5'10" and usually ride road bikes whose frame size is around 54 cm. I'm generally comfortable up to 56. This bike looks like it's either a 56 or 58, just eyeballing your pics.

For $20 and less than a tank of gas, I would take it, but only if the Vetta helmet comes with it. My first helmet was a yellow Vetta. The lining had disintegrated like the one in the picture, too.

'91 Trek 1200 - ROOKIE HERE
Hey guys, I am new to cycling and have fallen in love quickly. Purchased a 77 Schwinn Paramount for $20 and loved it....
until my buddy said he had a trek 1500 discovery edition he would dome for $200. I am told I got a deal, already offered $700 for it from the local bike shop.
anyways....bought the 91 trek 1200, highlighter yellow w the black spider web accents. LOVE THIS BIKE! BUT....
I need to sell it. Whats a reasonable price to ask for?
