Hope all the dads out there had a great father's day, and great father's day weekend. I sure did. I raced Saturday morning, along with my 17 yr old son, then did some kayaking and stand-up paddling in the afternoon out to some islands on the Willamette river. Yesterday was a 15 mile mtb ride with both my 15 and 17 yr olds with 3000' of climbing and some swimming in the river in the evening. Also, my kids made one of my favorite vegan dinners (I'm not vegan, but my 17 yr old is) - pasta fagioli. Great weekend.

I rode the trainer, and then did yoga with my son. We all went birding and property perusing, then had a lovely dinner (vegan) at a fav restaurant.

Wife got me some lululemon running shorts and shirt. Made brunch, got coffee, took the kiddo to the park for a bit, went for a trail run, then ordered and picked up (vegan) pizza from a favorite local place

Lucky me. I scheduled a colonoscopy for Friday. This is my third one. I am going to upgrade myself to a Cat 1 for colonoscopy.

Rehydrate and be prepared to be a fair bit lighter come saturday. Hope you have a hill climb race planned. Or just do what I did and stay in bed and try to recover from the cleanse.

I crashed a week and a half ago and damaged my frame. I sent it off last week for repairs, and I'm starting to think FedEx lost it. There have been no updates since it reached the regional distribution center about 12 hours after I dropped it off.

That sucks.

I bought a used frame to (at least temporarily, until I get reimbursed by the driver's insurance) replace the frame that got wrecked when I got hit a month back. When it arrived, the BB turned out to be stuck in the frame beyond what I could get out with soaking in PB Blaster and a long wrench, so I dropped it off at the shop a week ago. I put some masking tape right above the shell saying it was Italian threaded and would loosen opposite the normal way. They contacted me that night asking if I wanted the BB back, or if it was ok if they destroyed it getting it out of the shell because it was really stuck (I know, that's why I let you do it). I don't have any use for a BB with a 109 mm octalink spindle, so I told them to do what they have to do. Haven't heard back since. I'm hoping it's because it just got pushed back in the queue after they saw it wasn't going to be an easy fix and not that it's irreversibly seized or that they screwed up the bb shell. Kinda want to call them, but I don't want to seem pushy.

Hopefully, yours just got involved in some sort of snag (FedEx celebrating Juneteenth? I don't know), and the tracking will update tomorrow.

Good news: I called FedEx last night and filed a report. Then this morning, I got an email saying it's arrived in the destination city and is now out for delivery.

I was honestly less concerned about cost of replacement as availability of replacement. Since this happened, I've been looking for other options that could be a back up if needed, but I have yet to find anything - new or used.

This is the truth. As we get closer to racing again here, I've been thinking the same thing about what happens if I get caught up in one of the no-race jitters crashes everyone is talking about. I do have a backup bike but wouldn't be able to fix or replace anything on my race bike.

One year today since we lost Pcad. Never met him but chatted enough on FB so that I felt like I knew a bit about who he was. He was in the car biz at one time so we talked about that. And politics, of course. And music, one of his passions. Even bikes sometimes. I also got mixed in with a few of his friends on FB. I used to look forward to it. RIP Peter.

Back to 2x on the cross bike. If pros can manage to race cross with a 2x setup, I ought to be able to set it up reliable enough to ride. I just got tired of riding in Umstead up Turkey Steep in a 40/32. Also, downhills in the 40/12 weren't really working out great either. Now I can even out my effort in there more and have a comfier cadence.

New setup is 11-32 and 50/34. So 34/32 slowest. I had an R800 clutch RD sitting around so used that. Upgraded from 10 to 11spd with some used but newish 5800 shifters. Sweet.

The Crockett has a built in small ring chain drop dealio so didn't need to "fix" anything there. Test ride next.

Hospital visit number 15 for the finger... Custom splint #3 is even smaller and I only have to wear it while I sleep or do high-risk activities. Therapist is happy.

Just saw this. Yes they are starting back up with Monday training nights sometime here in the next few weeks. Give me a heads up and I might make it out there and join you. I need to get back on the track anyway and the "novice" nights are open to just about anyone. Great program.

Mentally I checked out in the fall last year, was absolutely losing it by Jan this year. People have no regard for others now, the concept of "respect for others" has gone out the window, and that attitude is bleeding hard into me.

Correct, you get a Maple Leaf stamp on your health care card every time you are seen at hospital. Collect ten and you get a bike!
