Ordered Specialized Allez E5 Elite for first road bike?
Hi there. Lurker and now a member of the forum. So much great info!
I was loaned a road bike of the last 6 weeks and love it, a 2017 Felt FR I think.
I decided to purchase my own road bike and went with the Specialized Allez E5 Elite. I have searched and read as much as I can find on it, which is not a ton here. Probably as it is entry level…. But it seemed the best bang for the buck. I’m doing rides of up to 35 miles as of now and loving it on the Felt but it is more a racing bike than the Elite I get next week.
thoughts?

If you liked the fit of the Felt, and it was a 2017 FR5, then it looks fairly comparable in geometry to the Allez you are getting based on what they showed for the F5's geometry at 99Spokes.
You'll probably feel some differences between the carbon fiber frame of the Felt and the alloy frame of the Allez, but you'll still enjoy it I'd think.

It's a sort of semi-racy geometry, Al frame, CF fork, Tiagra 4700......Sounds pretty good.

That's a cool bike. Fairly forgiving geometry. I looked long and hard at a similar one before buying my current bike. The only possible downside are the Axis brakes. I've never tried them, but I heard multiple reports of them being inferior to the Shimano counterparts. But if you feel like that's the case, it's not hard or expensive to upgrade them to 105.

I did have to replace the tires I got with my new Tarmac. The rode comfortably, but I got 3 flats in 300 miles. I replaced them with GP5000's and so far have 3500 miles on them with no flats.
Though the version tire they put on that model and tier bike isn't what they put on my bike. Even with that, I don't advocate swapping them out until they annoy you from flatting a few times. If they don't flat enough to annoy you then just use them till they wear out then try something else.

Great choice IMO, excellent bike to start with. As others have mentioned, geometry is pretty close to the Felt F series so handling should be similar. Brakes are cheap to replace if you feel that they're lacking, and "nicer"/more supple tires will help the bike be its best self when the OEs wear out or you feel like splurging.

Specialized Allez Elite bike size selection
I am looking for my first road bike and i have shortlisted and tried Specialized Allez Elite.but my size 49 bike is not available and need to wait 2 months, my LBS has 44 and 52 bikes in stock and i tried them both. my LBS sales rep says 44 allez elite should fit me better than 49, i am 5’3” or 159cm in height and according to bike size chart and guide on specialized website it shows 49 bike fits me. i am not aware of any ideal positions so i was not able to make out any difference when i test rode 44 and 52. So not sure if i need to wait 2 months for website recommended 49 size Allez Elite or should buy LBS sales rep suggested 44size bike right away. Currently i am riding Sirrus4 in small size since 3 months. Please suggest.

Be careful about relying on recommended sizes on websites. They are not always accurate. If you order, make sure you can cancel if the bike doesn’t fit when it arrives

The Allez is a great bike but if you're already used to the Felt FR you may notice the difference. But the Allez frame itself is upgrade-worthy so that's always an option down the line as parts wear out.

just got my '22 Allez Elite 56cm a few weeks ago. Haven't really ridden it yet, other than making a few adjustments after riding around in my neighborhood. Waiting for warmer weather.
