Flat Tire Pollen
I picked this up with a 2-inch magnet on a 750-foot traverse over a shoulder I ride frequently.
Posted 45 mph.
I couldn't see any of this walking, much less riding.
I'm now amazed I don't flat much more often than I do.

Ha! Nobody drives 45mph on that stretch I bet! Around here anyway, a road like that would commonly be driven 55-60mph, regardless of posted limit. Do you think speed has something to do with wire bits and other magnetic debris on the road? I guess it makes sense that greater forces would knock more stuff loose, but I’ve never thought about that kind of thing before.

I don’t think speed has any relation to debris accumulation.
Probably biggest factor is slope to wash off debris in heavier rain.

Very common steel belting from steel belted tires. Most roads are only crowned at 2% so it takes a good rain to wash the fragments off. Our retirement community runs street sweepers often and has lower speed limits and it really helps compared to the city/county roads.
