1,438 Hi-Res Rebour scans, 5,000 - 6,000 drawings !!

I have digitized most of the bicycle related Rebour drawings from the French magazine „Le Cycle“ 1945 - 1974 and published the scans on Flickr with kind permission of Martine Rebour, sole living heir of Daniel Rebour.

French captions and articles were transcribed and translated and can be found below the scans on Flickr.

Major part of this project is a pdf-file. It has all texts aggregated, with direct weblinks to the corresponding scans. It is (of course) searchable (brandnames!) and therefore indispensible if you look for specific content.

„Le Cycle“ is the main source for bicycle related Rebour drawings.
He was chief editor for that magazine. His drawings first appeared in that magazine, except from catalogue or other sorts of advertising drawings. There were 488 editions of „Le Cycle“ from 1945 to 1974.

I first saw Mr. Rebour's drawings in the Cyclo-pedia catalog in the 1970's. They were impressive, and I always thought that, in some ways, they made the components look better than a photograph would.

After a long time again a catalog with Rebour drawings, the Goéland catalog.

Such a catalog was also reprinted in Heine's VBQ 14, Winter 2005.

The earliest possible publication date of this catalog can be derived from the content.
The better racing model in this catalog has a Campagnolo seat post, which was available since 1956.
I'm surprised that Nivex derailleurs were still offered as an option at that time. I thought they would have been gone before.

This specific specimen shows prices in "new" French Francs. They have been in circulation since 01.01.1960.

The seller had given the catalog as 1961.

A little later, there was a catalog with the same drawings, slightly modified with regard to the derailleurs. It was then no longer Cyclo or other derailleurs but exclusively Huret Allvit 2nd Gen. They were available since 1962.

For this catalog I spent only 5 British Pounds plus postage from the UK. However, this is in a very poor condition. You can't see it anymore on the scans. Once again, a lot of time has gone into it, especially the cover. This is not as red in real but much brighter, rather orange.
