1969 URAGO Cattaneo
I bought this frame from AndyK in 2018 and I finally got around to restoring it. I think this frame was involved in a three way deal with gugie? I had the frame refinished in an off white color and added the lug and box lining myself. Aniceto Cattaneo was an Italian frame builder who moved to Nice, France. He built high end frames under his own name as well as for larger manufactures such as Urago. This frame has lots of nice details including Aniento's trademark extended spearpoint on the fork crown. I tried to keep it as French as possible, but had some setbacks with French stems and headsets. I wound up going with a Cinelli bar and stem. The steerer on this frame easily accepts a 22.2mm stem. The wheels were on the bike when Andy Kaylor bought it. At some point, I will build another set of wheels around French hubs. Thanks to Rudi Mayr for the cool head badge, which I painted up as well! The roads are still too dirty for me to give it a try. Hopefully, in about a month.....

That Urago exchanged hands at the Seattle Bike Swap in 2018. If I look confused, it's because of the three-way trade that @Andy_K fleshed out. I'm still wondering what the bike to be named later is/was.

"unknown to be named later" likely some utility infielder from the Cardinals farm system

also owned a 1969 Urago which was bespoke built for the U.S. Olympian Bill Best
it was built by an artisan whos name was pronounced to me as "Brookie" so it may have been something such as Brouquis; have never seen it written
he was shortly thereafter spirited away by MICMO to construct the true team machines for equipe Gitane
my example had this same distinctive crown
it did not have a headplate, foil transfer used instead
suspect headplate worn by your example may have been discontinued by this date
your transfer set much nicer than my example, they were all tacky looking foil things with knightsheads
colour of my example was opague powder blue - similar to Falcon team/house colour

I just posted about my Allegro restoration and someone said that they thought that they looked at the same thread twice. You did beautiful work with yours. I think we may have been visited by the same muse on our color schemes.

Based on personal experience, and basic stress analysis, I have reservations about radial spoking, but that Urago is gorgeous.

radial spokes
These wheels were on the bike when Andy K bought it. I have no experience with radial spoked wheels, but I understand your reservations. I have them too. I'm using chubby tubulars, which should make life a little easier for the hub flanges and spokes. The hub locknuts have a 1974 date code. There are no historic witness marks that these hubs were used for a conventional cross pattern. I believe these hubs have always been laced radially. I don't anticipate putting large miles on this bike or wheels. I have other bikes for that. My long range plan is to build another set of wheels around French hubs and keep these wheels for the novelty of it all.

URAGO Shakedown Ride
With the sun out and temps in the low 50s I thought I would give the URAGO a go. It road great, no issues, and no squealing MAFAC racer brakes either! I rode to Baker's Bridge, which is about 12 miles north of Durango and a popular road ride. The water in the Animas River was low and looked a bit like pea soup?

That is an absolutely wonderful bike! I have one of the original bikes that came out of Cattaneo's workshop, from 1962. Really cool bike too, with short Huret dropouts and soldered Universal 51 brakes.
There is a good CV on Cattaneo on an italian site, but I cannot link it because I am new here. You need to search for Aniceto Cattaneo and 'museociclismo'.

Juvela, the idea that this Cattaneo from Pavia could be the father of Aniceto Cattaneo is very interesting. Aniceto was born in Fiesco, not far away from Pavia, where your Cattaneo did business in?

Sorry about the rules about 10 posts before you can add pics, but before that was added this site was overrun by spam, I believe. Based on what I saw on your Flickr albums it looks like you'd be most welcome here! Just find a post of interest and comment on it. 10 posts isn't much. We want people here for the long haul, you'll meet some great vintage bicycling fans, and if you post your location you may get invited to some bike rides with those great people!
The other bike that @redo1 has on his Flickr site is a Crippa, a marque unknown to me. Perhaps you can comment on it? I'd bet that just answering questions that will come up on this thread will get you to 10 posts and picture post time quickly!
