Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

cycling. condoms. calder. 1.7.10

todays little jaunt took me to north park, san diego and back home to ocean beach. i wanted to make sure to go through presidio park, one of my favorite areas to ride, and other peoples favorite places to....do other things

this narrow road can get sketchy. presidio dr.

this is what i mean by "other things". i appreciate their efforts to practice safety, but littering just negates their efforts.

next stop. the velodrome at morley field. i left the macro setting on from the condom shot. i hate when that happens.

pista palace on 30th st.the greatest bike shop in the universe! they helped build up my caad9.

they do it right.

watch some moto racing and i'm off again.

b st. looking downtown.

organ pavilion, balboa park.

Some say yes, some say no.

I've been kicked out for not having a track bike, even though one of the coaches told me I should check it out on my (obviously) geared road bike.

I think they were just mad that I was passing everyone except for the team that was motorpacing around the track; them I kept up with easily.

But that was a few years back.

they have everything scheduled, including public hours. unfortunately some kids left tyre marks all over the track last season, and they had someone try to break into the bike storage, so now you need a key to get in. racing goes down every tues. night during the summer, and they offer classes. a great place that breeds lots of talent, including iggy silva who just made the livestrong u23 squad.

I've seen condoms litering the bike path up at Oceanside. Never could figure that out.. Not even anywhere near parking locations for cars adjacent the trail.. Condom watching . A benefit of keeping your eyes glued to the asphalt. San Diego is quite photogenic. Thanks for posting..There were no ' beautiful people' skating on the bike path heading back towards Ocean Beach.?

When you become a member of the SDVA you get the combination code for the gate lock. Huge and important SDVA meeting on Sun Jan 10,2010 @ noon electing members for the board.

Thanks for the pictures but the crowd pleaser here seems to be the rancid condom photo.

The space below is what we look like now here.
