Curious about Shimano 6400 value
Just curious about what you all think. Pedals are near worthless but the rest...? All 6400 series, except the BL-6403 levers. I just noticed mismatched shifters.

Does not look like much value there. Piecing it out could fetch over a hundred bucks.
But will an eBayer want to spend ten dollars on a rear derailleur with another eight for shipping Priority Mail?
You might get more for those 7700 chainrings by pulling those off the cranks.

While cleaned up nice there there rough spots on the gears and chain rings as a set with no BB, Heasset, hubs, stem or seat post. As Said maybe hundred here less net on ebay sorry but the current market sucks for new sellers on used parts.

Tricolor/Ultegra is great stuff. Legendary reliability. Properly maintained,it will last a lifetime.
The early 7 speed version you have here with single pivot brakes is not highly sought after, even in excellent cosmetic condition.
Because the group was positioned by Shimano to OEM on LOTS of midpriced bikes, owners did not always take very good care of them. Which means there’s a lot of Tricolor out there of all types and flavors that look like they’ve been dragged through a cornfield behind a pickup truck. While super reliable, those unsightly bits don’t sell for very much but make excellent donations to the local co-op.
The early 7 speed version you have here with single pivot brakes is not highly sought after, even in excellent cosmetic condition.

I wonder when "tricolor" became a name for Shimano 600. I've never heard it called that until just recently, and mainly on this forum. It does give it a bit of cachet it probably doesn't deserve. Just my honest opinion having many years working on Shimano.

I get the feeling the Shimano stuff gets a little more love in Europe.
I noticed it with the Golden Arrow groupset here earlier.
And it's been called Tricolor(e) here for as long as I can remember.

Interesting. I grew up starting with DA AX/EX up to 7800, and never heard it called Tricolor until I started on this forum. I guess it is a BF thing.

Thanks all! So the 6408 8 speed is the more desireable stuff...makes sense since it saw the addition of the brifters to the line.
Fortunately, I don’t “need” to sell anything, so I could simply use it for bike frames I need to move to a new home!

Good point. Tricolor was VERY popular in Europe; for example it was spec'd on many Eddy Merckx bikes. There's even a non-aero 6400 SLR brake lever set that was primarily aimed at the Euro market.
