Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Has anyone in the US actually purchased from Canyon.com

I'm interested in the Canyon Endurace CF SL Disc bike

https://www.canyon.com/en-us/road/en...cf-sl-disc-7-0

However, their website seems buggy, with my browser warning me against opening the home page!

The bike is very interesting and might be an ideal chipseal and rails-to-trails bike.

Has anyone in the US completed a transaction with Canyon.com?

Yes I have. It went smoothly. They didn't include a tracking number on my initial automated e-mail. I had 2 reps contact me back quickly - one from a form request, another from an online help chat.

I purchased the CF SL 7.0.

Lovely bike, enjoying it very much.

Will sending the measurements as stated on the website be enough for a good fit ?.

I'd use the geometry chart to match a bike you currently fit.

Their bikes are gorgeous and get such good reviews.. and you just can't beat their prices. I'd be super tempted if I was in the market for a new bike

Really? Comparing similar bikes with Giant's site the differences are pretty small, often in favour of Giant.
My lbs will often offer discounts on the list price, does Canyon do that?

Compare: Ultimate CF SLX w/8000 $3600 vs TCR Adv Pro w/8000 $3250

Yeah, between Raleigh and DBack's corporate discount sites, BikesDirect, REI, Nashbar, and others- Canyon just doesnt seem like some holy grail of savings.
Any as you mention- sometimes even bike shop sold bikes compare favorably.

Well, I like a couple of the bikes in the Raleigh lineup, but I don't think any of those other options are directly comparable to Canyon or Giant, although REI does sell Cannondale.

It's all a matter of taste. I personally am not a big fan of Giant's graphics/color-schemes. Some folks are. To each their own. I personally enjoy the subtlety of the Canyon bikes. Especially that olive green color.. that just appeals to the Marine in me. I think the main difference in those two bikes you listed are the wheels. The wheels on the Canyon are a much better wheel than the Giant Brand wheels on the Giant. The Mavic Cosmics are a great wheelset. That's arguably a better deal considering what those cost versus what Giant is paying for the wheels they're putting on that TCR

You may be able to swing a deal with your LBS, but any near me will barely move off MSRP.

Raleigh is a good brand. I've had several and only recently sold my Revenio 3. But they don't make the road bikes they used to.. they turned that business over to Diamondback... and those are fantastic and with corp discount an untouchable deal, especially the models with the HED wheels. So, I won't argue with you on that!

$2070 total cost- handbuilt AmClassic wheelset, same 105 drivetrain as Canyon SL 7.0, same Hydraulic brakes as Canyon SL 7.0, and already fully built.

Comparable isnt exact. Offerings from others are also comparable.

I guess I should clarify what I mean by comparable.
If you are looking for a gravel bike with disks, 105 and a carbon frame, there are lots of places to buy a bike including REI and Raleigh.

If you are looking for a racing bike, possibly with dura-ace/red and top of the line frame/wheels, you should go to a bike shop or look at Canyon.

Tax ended up being the deciding factor for price win.

Isn't the SLX Canyon's highest-spec frame designation? You're comparing that to the Advanced Pro, when the more direct comparison would be the Pro SL, I think, which comes in at $4k when outfitted with Ultegra.

FWIW, I wouldn't give too much credit for the HED wheels - a pair came with my Haanjo, and they're... meh. They have the same rim profile as the HED C2+ rims, but they're not welded (which is why HED themselves don't specify them as being tubeless ready, though I have set mine up tubeless) and I believe that the alloy is different, and neither the spokes nor the hubs are anything special. I've had to true mine a few times in the 12 or 13 months that I've had them despite the fact they've been relegated to only gravel duty and haven't seen that much action.

Comparing geometry of the medium canyon to the large COOP ehich are made for the same height range- 5'9-6'...
The COOP has 5mm more chainstay, 1cm longer wheelbase, the same seat tube angle, and .7 degree difference in head tube. Stack and reach are basically the same.
Both bikes come with 28mm tires.

I mention this because there really just isnt much difference in geometry and though one is called a gravel bike, they are both just carbon endurance road bikes with the same size tires, drivetrain, and brakes.

I fully agree if you want duraace, then its the shop or canyon. For sure.

Of course there is always this from Dback...for $1995 total shipped.
https://www.diamondback.com/road-bik...ntury-5-carbon
Full Ultegra drivetrain, Shimano hydraulic brakes, full carbon frame, quality HED cockpit and wheels, and lighter than the Canyon being discussed.

I find both the REI and the Dback bikes as quite comparable to the bike being discussed.
DA though?...yup hit a shop or Canyon.

The Canyon website directed me towards an M frame based on measurements, but I had a bike fit done before and the stack/reach worked great with L, so I got an L frame and am very happy with it.

They are probably going smaller when in between, since it is easier to fit someone on a smaller frame than a longer frame.

Do you know what tire width that frame can accommodate? I'm looking for an endurance bike for my wife, and she wants 32c tires.

I have 28c GP4k’s at the moment and they inflate to 31mm measured with plenty of room left. I don’t think it will have any issue fitting 32c tires.
