Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, there's a rubber gasket on the Zipps and they recommend pulling that down and over the pawls before inserting, but that gasket doesn't always seem to re-seat cleanly, so I just leave the gasket in place to do gaskety things and I use whatever thin-bladed tool that I have on-hand to nudge the pawls.

I seem to recall seeing some decent-ish prices ($50-60 ea) on the Michelin Power Roads the other day. Inventory on 28s is running pretty thin across the board, though - it's almost as if they've become the new default enthusiast size....

I read that many employers don't give enough time off for isolating and the workers can't afford to stay unpaid that long, so they go back to work and infect others.

It's inevitable. With 5g none of the old kludge is going to work anymore. This is just more planned obsolescence.

Bingo. It's now easy to get 25s of most tires, which I tend to like for my older bikes, what with clearances and all. Only the Canyon RALLY fits the 28s. The Bianchi does with maybe 2mm clearance underneath the fork crown. I may go back to 25s the next time I put new tires on it. The Cannondale would REALLY benefit from 28s, but getting them into 1995 brakes.......

I think another aspect of it is that we in America tend to see going to work sick as normal. You only take time off if you feel so bad you can barely get out of bed. My crazy old boss used to brag about the time he came in and did an assay with 102 degree fever.

I wouldnt say normal...necessary maybe but not normal.

we had a guy @ my co. who came to work to attend a meeting 3 days after open heart surgery. A lot of people treat him like he's a legend, but I'm leaning more towards lunatic.

And we wonder why other countries have been beating us in life expectancy.

For me, Carson had been the host for a while before I knew the Tonight Show existed. I think I started watching it in junior high, because my Dad would fall asleep in front of the TV and thus not enforce any kind of bed time, and I've always been a night owl. So he'd been the host for almost a decade by then, and he continued as the host as long as I was still paying attention. By the time he retired, I wasn't watching the Tonight Show anymore and so I mostly missed the Leno years.

But then again. Back in the day as a carpenter, I got on @ the auto show. Which is big money, lots of o.t. back when things were tight. They use a lot of mdf, the dust from cutting that stuff is nasty. I got an upper respiratory infection from it. After a week of 12+ hour days working sick. My Forman put his hand on.my shoulder, I was down on all 4s fishing some wires out of a access hole in a false floor. I had apparently sweated through my carhart coat. I didn't want to get laid off so I kept coming in to work. He forced me to go to the Dr. Told me he'd lay me off of I didn't go. Nicest guy I ever worked for.
