I seen this vintage Huffy cruiser and just had to have it! I never had a chrome bicycle and always wanted a chrome BMX when I was a kid. The bike is missing the tank, headlight, tail light, and a few other items, but the chrome is in great shape. I will strip it down to a bare frame and begin polishing the chrome.....

Nice find! I would have scooped it up too if the price wasn't too outrageous. Love the mechanical speedometer. Does it work alright?

Before I tore this bike down, I pumped up the tires and decided to ride it first. The saddle is the worst saddle I ever sat on! The seatpost is way too short so I cannot ride it properly. The bike is a 26", but I felt really cramped on this bike with the swept back bars hitting me in the knees. The rear rack and fenders rattled a lot (missing hardware), the pedals are garbage, and the stem won't stay tight causing the bars to slip.

I understand keeping the bike original would be ideal, but regardless of the age of this bike, it's still a Huffy and will never be of any real value just like the other rare Huffy bikes I have. If I keep it original, then I would basically have a museum piece and not a bike I could ride. I don't like that idea at all, so I cleaned and polished all the original parts I removed and boxed them up.

I decided to build this bike as something I could ride and enjoy! Like I said in the first post I always wanted a chrome BMX as a kid, so I went with a California Strandie/26" BMX build with this bike. Laid back solid steel seatpost, new saddle, Black Ops BMX platform pedals, BMX stem, uncut Schwinn Predator Freeform BMX Chrome bars, 26X1.95 Kenda semi-slick tires, 38 tooth BMX front chainring, and BMX grips complete this package..............

That's a cool build. Very well done. Brings back visions of a friend's chrome Schwinn Mag Scrambler when I was a kid.

Tastefully executed there Mr. Mullet. Black tires, pedals, stem, saddle, chain ring, and grips. Nice balance against the CHROME frame and fork. Well done. Rims are sparkling too. It's begging to be wheelied. I can tell.

Nice job on the bike! I bet it would be awesome taking it over a rickety jump made of a dry rotted plank of plywood placed on cinderblock fragments or precariously piled chunks of split firewood.

Final details would be a black seatpost clamp and a black water bottle carrier.I thought about getting a black BMX pad set for it also.
