Blinded by the sparkle.
This isn’t vintage, so I apologize. But I thought people here could relate. I picked up a full 9 speed Ultegra group so I was in search of a frame. I came across a nice Trek 2200ZR that had amazing paint and it fit. I brought it home and started building it. Almost finished and noticed dents in the toptube. I have an option of keeping it or trading it in for a similar type Jamis frame. Not sure yet, just thought I’d share. Don’t bash the modern bike too much.

Aesthetically, I like the red one better even with those tiny dents. Looking at the photo of the Jamis, the top tube appears to have a little bend to it - maybe it is just distortion in the image?

Been there, done that and, not sure now, but I think I have a T-shirt for each time I goofed.
It is so easy to miss this or that when the excitement of a good find plants itself square in your face. This Torpado had suffered some trauma, but I did find out before making the purchase. The damage actually helped lower how much I had to pay - a lot...
And, though I did NOT notice it at the time of purchase, my Marinoni Piuma had suffered minor damage. A wee dent on the top tube. Disappointed? Absolutely! But the Marinoni is such a nice rider that the dent is not really an issue. After all, the bike is not vintage, in my book of what is and what is not vintage...
As for the OP's Trek, keep it and ride it, assuming the bike still feels like it is worth what you paid. If not, send it back or seek some form of compensation.

That Trek looks ace in my opinion. I like a Jamis bike as much as the next guy, but that Trek just looks right.

Paint is pristine, I wonder if the frame was shipped that way, maybe a "second"
