First ride with the new hip!!
My wife even captured the event as I was leaving. I like my form.....
Riding off into rural NC!
It was only 25 miles but it was great!! It was so refreshing to just be back outside riding on the road again. I’m not in great shape as the hills felt like mountains and my endurance is nonexistent but what the heck. It just too beautiful a day not to ride.
I go back to the Surgeon on Tuesday and I sure hope he gives me the official approval to start riding again!!!!

Congratulations @jppe. The joy is certainly apparent. I can just imagine the feeling of accomplishment after such a long layoff.

It did occur to me as a golfer you might find it interesting. Just a couple weeks ago that movie was on TV, and I recorded it.
I continue to read your posts whenever I encounter them.

It's also about trauma, but IMO holds out the hope of healing when things seem bleak.
When I was about two weeks into my hospital stay, I was watching an un-named, circa early 1950's black-and-white movie with the sound off because my roommate was asleep. It seemed to be a romance, with Glenn Ford and Anne Baxter. A scene came on where they were driving in a car and had a sudden collision, and Glenn threw himself in front of Anne. He awoke in a hospital bed, and she was OK.
The following scenes showed him gradually recovering, as he tried to get out of bed with a trapeze bar, then walk with a cane. Soon, he strangely, and surreptiouously from Anne Baxter, slipped away to a golf course and tried to hit some balls. She was obviously mad at him when he got back (all this still with the sound off.) Then there appeared on screen a newspaper headline that Ben Hogan was going to participate in an upcoming major golf tournament.
It turns out that the movie was “Follow the Sun,” a 1951 biopic of Ben Hogan. I looked him up on Wikipedia, especially about the accident and found this:

Great news! I had been following your posts, and this news startled my cat, because I shouted "Yes!" out loud when I saw it. Eight years ago I was off the bike for a year and wasn't certain I'd be able to ride again, so I tend to get emotional about successes like yours!

Excellent news .... but I would go easy with it 25 miles for a 1st ride seems like an awful lot
I've had no problems for the last couple of years but recently pushed my rides out from 30 which I was doing regularly out to 40 and 50 miles and one of my replacements is giving me a lot of trouble to the extent I've just taken 3 weeks out to give it a rest and it's feeling better but concerned the next ride may make it blow up again.

Awful to say but I don''t know .... I'm squeamish and of the attitude knock me put cold and do you what you need to but I really don't want to know the details ... I remember the Doc telling me the deterioration I had the hips was the level you#d expect of a 90 yr old and that was when I was 50 so I'm guessing it was probably full and then had the other one done 3 years later.

It’s GREAT to be out walking the course and playing golf again!!!
Update:
I had my 3 months post hip replacement appointment with my surgeon this morning and he released me from all restrictions!! Yeah!! He said my range of motion was phenomenal. I had stashed my golf clubs in the car before the appointment so my next stop was at the golf course. Just like my first bike ride, it was terrific to be back out with all my clubs. Life is good.

Geeze, 1st ride with the new hip and 25 miles. I feel pretty good about doing 20 with my OEM hip. Congratulations for several things, successful surgery, great recovery, doing those 25 miles 1st ride out and back to golf.
