It occurred to me recently that with all the riding I've done since the start of the Pandemic, I have finally reached the point where I could start thinking in training terms, like periodicity, build periods, etc. Maybe time to sign up for one of the online training programs that will help my build my fitness, work on my weaknesses, etc.

Is that a Manitou fork? I had one of the last elastomer sprung Manitous and I bought a damper/spring kit from Manitou and it made a huge difference. I recently gave that fork to a friend but I don't know if he used it, or if it still works. I brought it up because if you can get the parts those forks can be quite nice. Elastomers suck.

Hey Trsnrtr - I think that you should buy either a direct-plumbed La Speziale Vivaldi II or really ball out and get a La Marzocco Linea Mini, so that I can live vicariously through you. Being at the in-law's, with lots of time to sit on my ass and browse for toys online, has me jonesing for a new machine and close to doing something stupid.

I’m not familiar with either of those but when I was shopping for a new machine last summer, I talked with a couple places and they all talked me out of a high end machine. I’m the only one in the house that drinks coffee and I never do milk drinks. Seattle Coffee Gear suggested a Rancilio with a pre-installed PID. I’m extremely happy and it was way cheaper than I was willing to spend.

Yeah, whenever I do upgrade, it's gotta be plumbed, have a rotary pump, dual boilers with great steam power and really good temp stability. Volumetric, like the Vivaldi, or flow profiling would be nice bonuses. Lookin' magnificent, like the Linea Mini, would be nice, too
I think I'm done with E61s and I know I'm done with vibe pumps and filling a reservoir.

Yeah, I saw that, but I think you're off by $1000. 
If I were to do another E61 (see above), I think I'd do Profitec/ECM; everything I've seen and heard indicates that their build quality is better than Rocket (and I'm not a fan of the big logo knobs).
But I think that I want a semi/saturated grouphead.

Never got into performance stuff on my cars, always just kept them stock and just kept them running.
I was trying to recall the most I ever spent on a car at one time. Pretty sure it was the $600 I paid for a rebuilt 5 speed trans on my S-10 Blazer. It was cheaper than buying the parts to fix it because the shafts were junk.
I think the second most ever was $400 for tires on the Trailblazer in 2014. They're still on there but might need to be refreshed soon.
