Finally got a new phone today.

I’ve been using an original Google Pixel for years but the battery has absolutely tanked and will only last reliably maybe 2-3 hours.

So now I have an iPhone 13. Feels a bit awkward after using a Google device for so long but I’m slowly getting used to it.

Needs a camera test though:

That's probably how it came off the guide to begin with. The simplest solutions are the most effective.

Here's another one. Rear derailluer in the biggest cog. Front in the smallest. Look at the gap between the inside front derailluer plate and the chain. Use the low trim screw to move the derailluer outwards until it solidly makes contact with the chain.(likely you will turn it in, right tighty) Make sure the shifter is in the low gear position (small ring). Loosen the pinch bolt for the cable. Just enough so that you can pull on it and it slides, but not enough that it comes out. With you right hand pull on the cable until the slack is out of it, and tighten the pinch bolt with your left hand. Once you get the bolt snug and the cablefree of slackness take the pinch bolt from snug to tight. NOW. Go back to the trim screw and loosen it a bit. The derailluer will move inboard away from the chain until the cable is holding the derailluer in place. Ideally you want the derailluer sitting on the trim screw with the cable tensioned lightly. It takes a little practice but I believe you can do it.
Just so you aren't confused there are 2 trim screws each one prevents the derailluer from going past a certain point. They are normally labeled. H, L or if you look at the parallelogram you can see them contact the stops when you move it from small to large and back.
So when you are done you just want enough clearance between the chain and inner plate so it doesn't rub when you pedal.

Great pic. I also had to bite the bullet. After getting hosed one more time with Verizon, I went with an unlimited plan with T-Mobile. Being "not a Yute" paid off, and I'm saving big money with that. They also basically swapped out the most crappy of crappy iPhone 11 for a 13, and the first thing I did was take pics. It's all so much better with the 13. I can also get 5g internet for 30 a month. I'm looking at that. Again, surviving long enough to race 60+ has its perks.

In bike related news I have new tires on the Holdsworth. I’ve had 28mm Gravelking slicks for the last ~2k miles with no punctures but the rear has gotten pretty squared off.

I went with Michelin Power Road in 28mm. I’m hoping for a bit better feel than the Gravelkings since they have a 120TPI casing. They sure feel nice in the hand.

Im still with Verizon. Originally I was going to go with a less expensive option but the person I was working with gave me $10 off per month which almost halved the monthly payment.

My last phone had such terrible battery life that i would need to turn it on airplane mode before any of my rides and even then it wouldn’t last for some longer ones. Forget about getting any interesting pictures either.

Today was rough. I ended up going down three times. The first time, I was riding back to my car from packet pickup, some guy wasn’t paying atttention coming around a bend and pushed me into a field. Said field had 3 foot deep potholes in it and I went over the bars. Crash two was on some stupid rooty rocky muddy single track that I would really only classify as dangerous. Lost traction and went down against some rocks- my right cleat got stuck and I twisted my knee all up. Crash three was pretty much the same, just an even worse segment that took out about ten people in my near vacinity.

My knee, shoulder and hip hurt so bad that the rest of the day was torture.

I had a ton of mechanicals and probably wasted about an hour dicking around with them. I’m really disappointed in the outcome, but it’s over at least
