48V 750W 15Ah also work with 48v 750w 20Ah???

I'm paralyzed and ride a handcycle. It has a Bafang BB02(?) mid drive system on it. It's 48 volt, 750 watt, 15-ish amp. I can get about 30 miles out of it. I would like to carry a second battery so I can go further.

1: will a 48 volt 750 watt 20 amp work with my motor/controller...can I just unplug the 15 amp and plug in the 20 amp?
2: Will the 20 amp go more than the 15 amp? i.e. could I get 40 miles out of it (all other variable being equal)

Thanks you guys!

Voltage output is the same on both batteries, just the capacity of the batteries are different.
As long as both batteries fits into the housing & connectors, you're fine to use both with your ebike.

If your batteries have a built in on/off switch turn to off before switching them so no sparks. Or convert to XT90 anti spark connectors

Just so you know, if the situation ever arises, you can use a 52V battery too. I use 52V and either 4 AH or 14 AH on my BBS02-equipped hardtail MTB. However if you have a 961 display the full/empty gauge won't be accurate.

.

You have a mix of things here. Amp is a figure of power. As you mention 20 amp and 15 amp, I'm going to assume these are actually ah, which is measurement of capacity.

If this is the case, as someone replied above, you will be fine.

20ah from 15ah is a 33% capacity gain. From this if your 15ah gets you 30mi, 20ah should get you just under 40mi.
