How to reach PSI 110 with a floor pump
I bought a pair Hutchinson Atom Comp tires and installed them on to the Ksyrium SL, pump the wheel with a floor pump, when it gets to PSI 80, it stops, I can hear the air is leaking out from the pump nozzle and tube valve, does that mean the pump is no good or the valve on the tube is no good, or maybe both. The pump is Serfas FP
-55 and the tube is sunlite 19-23. Any suggestion? Thanks

Sounds like you haven't made a good seal with the valve and the pump head. I don't know the specific model you have, but maybe try making sure you "blip" the presta valve before pumping, push the pump head all the way on before locking it, and then pay attention to where the valve is when you pump - i.e. my current tubes seem to prefer being inflated at 6o'clock, others are 12, etc.

When you connect the head to the valve...do you pull the sealing lever up after you connect it to the valve or do you flip it up and then flip it back down after you connect it to the valve?
There are some pumps that work in this manner and totally ass backwards/counter intuitive! Check that first, because that is a common error.

Not all pumps are created equal... my floor pump is a cheap $25.00 BETO that has been in service for 3-4 years and it has no issue inflating tyres to 140 psi and all it has needed was a new head and hose.

I second the Lezyne Floor Drive pump. Just 21 pumps will easily reach 110psi. Add four more strokes and you'll get 140psi. Best pump money can buy...just like the old Silca Track pump.

What I'm using now (2 years and it's serving me flawlessly):
Topeak Joe Blow Pro
My next pump (the Topeak will be used as a 2nd site pump):
Lezyne CNC or Alloy Floor Drive
But DAMN this new Topeak is attracting me too!:
Joe Blow X.O.
In my Camelbak for MTBing:
Topeak Master Blaster DX
And "on" my Road Bike:
Topeak Micro Rocket Carbon
But I also have my eye on this...
Lezyne Pressure Carbon Drive 2:

weigh yourself. you will lift yourself off the ground when your tire pressure equals your weight.
if i have to pump up a tire above 155 i call my neighbor over. she sits on my shoulders THEN i pump.
to be honest, i've let the air out of my tires on purpose a couple of times, just so we can do this. she seems to enjoy it so... what the heck.

My last try worked , I have to press the pump nozzle all the way in to the valve, and pump the **** out of my ass, finally got up to 110, the last few pumps were like....... I have to lean my whole body on to the pump handle, then the nozzle got stuck with the valve, I pull pull pull..... it came out, but I got my hand cut with the spokes, damn it hurts. I will exchange the pump tomorrow, most likely I will get the Lezyne floor pump.

It only takes me a good 6-7 pumps to easily get my tires up to 120psi with the Topeak.
I'm sure the Lezyne will be great (I make it a point to put Lezyne products first on my
list of accessories; some of the best products you can buy).
Whatever the manufacturer recommends.

Another thing I notice is , with the same specs, 700 23, the Hutchinson tire is slimmer than my Schwalbe Lugano and Michelin Lithion,
noticeably slimmer, it is more like a 700 20, anyone knows why? Could this be the tube? The tube is for 19-23 width tires.

Yes, there is a best pressure based on your weight and tire size for performance. For your weight, assuming you are using 700/23 tires, the 110 is about perfect in the back, but you might want to stay closer to 80 in the front. See the chart at the end of the article, keeping in mind that your weight is likely distributed about 60/40 back/front.

Doh! I forgot to add in the weight of the bike. Maybe your best pressure would be more like 120/85 on 700/23's.

The thing I really like about the Lezyne floor pump (I've got the steel model) is that you screw the nozzle onto the valve stem. You can pump up short stems in deep dish wheels that other, clip-on pumps (like the Joe Blow Pro, which I also have) can't touch because they can't get a good bite.

I had a specialized Air Force that worked poorly until I removed the top and lubed the plunger and shaft . Worked great until the valve crapped out for the second time. Got a Joe Blow Pro.
