Your's looks mint, very nice. Seeing it in the classic and vintage forum is like hearing Nirvana playing on the classic rock station.

Love the fatties for their ride and neither bike is a slouch in the speed department.

Saved from a dump: an old Tunturi, probably from 50's. I could verify it from the factory but I have not gotten myself to do it yet. It has 650B aluminum rims* with surprisingly smooth hubs and balloon tires, so the ride is actually quite nice. The fork is not totally straight, but as head tube is not cracked and steering works well, it will do. Total cost to me: 5 euros (a new chain).
I have not seen that kind of rims in a Tunturi from that era before; I thought they all had steel rims. Those aluminum ones are nicer though, so I'm not complaining

Cool. I like that chainguard. What's that lever-ish thing on the front side of the seat tube?
I wasn't even aware that Tunturi made bikes (stupid American that I am). I do remember they made a little kid's car (maybe 25 years ago) which you rowed instead of pedaled. It was an interesting concept. Can't find a picture now. (While searching for it, I discovered they make all sorts of fitness-related equipment as well as motor scooters.)

Tunturi is/was a traditional finnish bike/moped manufacturer (I think they started in 1920's), until it was sold to Accell Group. Nowadays it produces soulless, low-end hybrids and fitness thingies. Behind the following link is a pic of an imperfect specimen of a Tunturi Professional, their top road model from eighties (also found from a dumpster - wtf people or should I say consumers are thinking nowadays o_O).

I don't know, man. I think I have you "out-dorked", now lol
Seriously, though, I don't know how I made it without the rear rack, it's a real handy item. Kinda miss the gumwall tires, though. Might have to go back when I wear these out.

I need to figure out how to get some good pictures out of my iPhone. Our camera died after too much time on the beach.

Took a trip back in time yesterday with my Stowe- from STI's and delta pedals to downtube shifters and toe clips (didn't even need to rewrap the bars!). I have yet to get the tricolor stem and post on there (have them, haven't mounted them), but everything else (including pedals) is tricolor.

Nishiki Altron 7000 I found on craigslist a month or so ago for $125. I love the paint job with the purple white fade pearl paint, with the smooth welded aluminum fame and sprint suntour group, no: seat, derailleurs, main chain ring - however have got a seat and chain ring from my local bike shop. Bike is currently set up as single speed until I can locate a decent set of used derailleurs.

1992 stumpjumper comp....
i'm really, really stoked on this bike...i've been on the lookout for a decent vintage mountain bike for sometime. the bridgestone i had this summer came close, but it was a touch too small. i came across this bike earlier this year, and offered to buy it from the gentleman on the spot....told me he'd think about it. he bought it brand new in california in 1992, when he was in his 50's. well, saw him again last week and said he was ready to sell it....he named a price and now it's mine.
the bike is as close to pristine as you could ever want. has a full shimano xt groupset (right down to the brakepads), and all other original components (except for the ti flite, i believe). the only thing i plan on doing is getting a wider bar- this thing is NARROW! the color is billed as "raspeberry" and it's amazing in person. since this is my "sunday driver" i opted for the 1.95 kwests, instead of knobbies, since i'll probably spend 90% of the time on pavement.
...sorry for all the pics-i love photographing bikes almost as much as riding them....

1971 Schwinn Super Sport.
I removed the steel Schwinn parts and replaced them with vintage Suntour, Shimano, Sakae, etc. The frame had white decals but they were looking pretty tired, so I removed them with Goo-Gone and a plastic scrub pad. The bare copper-colored frame looks quite handsome now-- I was going to have replacement decals printed up but now I think I'll just leave it the way it is. This is for my brother-in-law.
