Not surprisingly, I found my Domane to be very, very stable, too. Riding no-hands on the quicker-steering Cervelo was an adjustment at first, but I got used to it. I feel like I could probably do a metric century no-hands on a Domane, now.

I'm definitely more cautious with the R3 than with the Domane, road condition and wind are bigger factors, but I don't find it to be too bad. I don't know that I'd strip off arm warmers on the go, but sitting up and unwrapping a granola bar or peeling a banana is no problem. Under power with a taller gear is definitely easier than when coasting.

I reckon I could probably recoup most of the cost by reselling on FB. Might as well roll the dice.

Double flat yesterday, my second double flat in about a month after not having one for decades. Yesterday I hit a rock that was in a shadow and I never saw it. I was on the first descent a few miles into the ride and was going 30+. Cut the rear almost new tire which went flat quickly but the front held up until I got the thing stopped.
Scared the crap out of me. Couldn't tell which one was flat and the bike got shakey when I braked the rear but didn't seem to be slowing down. Grabbed a bunch of front brake and finally got stopped. My first flat at speed in a while. I booted the tire and threw in a couple tubes and finished the ride with a bit more caution on the descents.

I have not worn a tie in decades. I don't even know if I still have a sports coat that fits. The advantages of being a jumped-up lab dog - nobody expects me to dress nice. Plus the last 12 years I've been working in the West Coast Outpost of our company, and my boss is back in Maryland - and HE never wears a tie, either.

I never wanted to buy a Domane, but it has the same stack/reach of my custom. When that bike was stolen, It was the only bike available that would fit. Now I can't imagine riding anything else.

Yup, 56cm. I assume that the rake and trail is the same, though? I thought that had the biggest affect on no-hands-ish stability. If that's the case, even my 28mm tires could be making a difference, if you're running something smaller.

Our youngest daughter just got her final grades, 3.87 in Forensic Psychology, and will graduate with honors. She did this while working full time as an investigator for the Public Defender's Office, Mrs. Pirkaus and I are very proud of her hard work, in case you can't tell.
