A Superior barn find

The CL add just said 'Schwinn bicycle'. Lousy non-drive side pic. Short money, close enough to check out:

Just as found, Flicstand and all. I'll have to find a tall boy for this one! Stem has to go.

I would have expected a Nevar crankset, but still has that 54t bid ring Schwinn was so found of.

Re-branded long cage Crane? Freewheel is a replacement, SunTour 7 block.

Serial number is a few years older than the catalogue image of the bike, not unknown.

Nice. Careful with that crank. I always install cranks with a torque wrench and when I installed that one to 34 ft/lbs it stretched it enough that I now have to use a spacer on the fixed cup of the bottom bracket on my 85 Voyageur to keep the granny ring from rubbing. I only use 25 ft/lbs on it now. Otherwise, it is a great crank.

Great score Top! I don't believe the crankset is original, but it certainly is nice to have a triple in northern New England.

If I didn't already own a Super Sport, Sports Tourer, and a black Paramount, I might need to take a road trip to ME to relieve you of it! However, retirement and downsizing the fleet are on the horizon (end of September), so I must resist! But soon I will have no excuse not to ride with you more often! When's the next Ride across ME?

I still ache from those hills. Triple is essential to keep that 80rpm cadence at 4mph!

Yes, rear DR is a rebranded Crane. Nice score!
