City needs help finding bike path street sweeper
Hello Bike Forum folks, The City of Reno says it wants to use federal funds to buy a narrow bike path street sweeper (5 feet). But they can't find one made in America that has a vacuum and all kinds of attachments for snow and other issues. Has anyone found one made in America? If so, please post a link. Thank you!

Will a lawn sweeper work? You can get those with or without vacuums. They pull behind a lawn tractor.
edit: made in America may make the search tougher.

Maybe they can check with the city of Nashville, TN to see where they got the one pictured in this article.

The Bobcat company makes a sweeper attachment for the familiar Bobcat-brand tractors.... They're mostly made in USA last I knew (although the company itself is part of a Korean conglomerate).

Is this a bike path that is just open or undeveloped areas on both sides? Our city pulls a big blower fan behind a mule (the four wheeled kind, not four legged) and blows off the gravel, leaves, pine straw and other stuff.
Maybe not such a good thing for something like in the picture with a sidewalk on one side and road on the other.

The North American Made link above is a Canadian manufacturer which should be vetted if no good US made options are offered.

That is one reason I do not like the physically restricted lanes. I spent about 15 years riding a lane that for 20 feet had the barrier. A 50 foot stretch got swept maybe twice a year. (They took the barrier down this summer, finally!)
Now when 5' sweepers become common, that changes. (Assuming a "standard" width gets adopted - yea right ) Sounds like a business opportunity for someone. (Do yourself a favor and make the sweep width adjustable.)

The 5 foot wide will work until broken glass from a bottle is all over the place. The street sweeper will need to double up on that part of the road. By the way, what does the street sweeper do with the dirt and stuff?

what does any street sweeper do with the dirt and stuff. i would hope that it would be filtered to pull out useful metals and gravel that can be used for other purposes like traction during the winter. likely just used for fill then covered up with playgrounds and schools.

Or they could make snow globes out of the glass.
