Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aero, obvs. Also, "is", since they still use it.

My mobile view looks different from usual. Using “full” not mobile version on my iPhone.

And brutal nightmares last night. Had a bunch of work stress, but the kind that's happened before without going this bad. Worse than Shyamalan by far. I don't even know what director to compare. My soul feels dirty.

After experimenting with various blends, I'm back on pure cafe robusta this morning. Arabica raises mucus in my sinuses and robusta doesn't, so I can breathe freely. It has the added bonus of higher caffeine. It has not, however, helped me with Wordle. I'm going to let that marinate for awhile.

Interesting. Where do you get robusta? I think I can only get it as the stuff that doesn't say 100% arabica, which is to say junk like Folger's.

Only online. It comes from the Veracruz lowlands. But it is probably available from other parts of the world as well. It's not easy to find. I started drinking instant for exactly that reason, when we first moved from Belize and I couldn't find any. I was drinking locally grown robusta there.

Mostly to save weight. Cannondale was always trying different things when they were family owned and would do a lot of in house stuff instead of sourcing from a known supplier.
To make it work they used needle bearings and large diameter tubes and a double triple clamp, which would actually be a double double clamp.
It wasn't made for downhill or long travel bikes and in my opinion was more of a gimmick than anything else. It did work, though. I demoed one for a weekend. It's weird to look at but once riding you don't notice it at all. It seemed to work fine for what I did that weekend. No way could it ever be as burly as a Fox 36, for example.

Weird. Instead of going with double triple clamp they just added half of one.

Planned on about 55 miles this morning but about 30 minutes in to the ride I just wanted to be back home.

Still wanted to get a decent workout so I was thinking I would do a nice easy spin up Paris Mountain. A few minutes in I found myself about 10 seconds up on my fastest time. A few minutes later I was up about 30 seconds. 10 minutes in I was up over a minute. Somehow I ended up finding 1'22" by the end. Previous PR was 16'26", today I ended up at 15'04"!

Makes me wish I would have pushed a bit harder at the beginning, maybe I would have ended up in the 14's.

I put latex tubes on my bike a couple of weeks ago. I haven't noticed a huge difference aside from them losing air at a very rapid pace, which doesn't bother me much at all since I check air pressure before every ride.

It’s a road bike, so smooth - obviously.

Should I match my tube texture to the tire tread? Maybe I should ask the greater 41?

Given the number of times I've finished rides to pull wire or staples out of my latex tubes that then deflated, I don't care how much faster they are.

Stupid question of the day, well 2 stupid questions of the day.

Question number 1. If I were to buy a 105 R7000 rear derailer, cassette, and shifters, could I get buy with the triple upfront for a little while? I wouldn’t be able to use all three chain rings obviously, But if I could only use the outer and the middle that would work. Reason I ask, I need 175 cranks arms and it seems the 105 group sets are always out of stock. I can do piece meal but the price is more than I want to spend at once time.

Question number 2. How do I know if my rear chain stay is wide enough to take an 11 speed wheel? The ritchey was built in 2001. I don’t want to order wheels and then they don’t fit.

2 is easy. No problem. They went from 126 to 130mm rear spread in the early 90’s.

1 depends, do you have a triple crank?? I suspect triple shifter may not have proper cable pull to work with a double crank….
