I picked this bike up late June of this year.

After looking at the various Peugeot bike catalogs I have determined it is most likely a 60cm 1978 UO10 in the Astral Blue color.
I could be wrong but the original parts matched up pretty spot on with the catalog.

I completely stripped down the frame and fork and then rebuilt it into what I label as a quick riding urban cruiser.

I mostly used various parts I had on hand in my parts bins.

The original bottom bracket and headset were cleaned , greased and reinstalled because of the whole French thing plus they work fine.

That stem is a Nitto dirt drop knock off I found on the Amazon site.

I spent about 40 to 45 minutes sanding the stem shaft down from 22.2 to 22mm to accommodate the French thing.

The handlebar is a Sunlite North Road which I like and have on several bikes.

This bike came with 27" wheels but I have converted it to 650b.

Those are the smooth tread Panaracer Gravel King tires in a 650b x42.

My go to brake calipers for 650b are the Tektro 559's but they would not reach on this one.

I did go with a different Tektro but these are ultra long reach beach cruiser type brakes.

I think they look a bit too bulbous at the arch but they fit and stop the bike well enough I think.

This bike is a blast to ride.
I think the frame is most likely straight gauge tubing of some sort, perhaps even hi-tensile but dang it rides nice.

I've appreciated the aesthetics of these early Peugeot's for quite a while with the cool graphics, colors and decals.

They may not be the best constructed of French bikes but they knew how to add some 'style'.

I did not use any high zoot parts.
The rear derailer is a Shimano Exage.
I forget what the front is.
The crank is one I piece mealed from the parts bin adding the 3 rings I had left that would fit to just get the thing going.

I like how it came together , how it rides, the look, the patina and I just 'dig it' as they used to say.

I may add a few nicer bits here and there later on.

I do have a tan saddle coming my way soon.

That seatpost is a 24mm if I'm remembering correctly and I hope to find a nicer one soon.

Of all the bikes that have passed my way and there have been a lot, I think this is the only 24mm seatpost I've come across.

Well, enough of the verbiage and now for some pics from this morning's ride on which I caught the full moon next to Jupiter as well the sunrise and low 70 degree temps.

Plus a good friend joined me for my 2nd lap around White Rock Lake in Dallas, TX.
All in all one of those special early morning rides!

Gee, you had me at "vintage"... scrolled for several minutes just to reach the end...😆😆😆 But SERIOUSLY, awesome build, a real keeper for sure. The new saddle (and some nicer thumbies) will make the angels sing.

1) To me, this bike is begging for hammered aluminum fenders.

2) Have you ever tried mounting the touring handlebar upside-down?

Excellent looking bike and those budget dual pivot tektros rock. I've used the the 800 and 900 series on some really long reach stuff. You have a great looking ride there.

It's been a while since I posted this.
I did get around to installing a different saddle that I prefer as well as a 24mm seatpost I ordered from Europe.

Also I picked up some much better Sun Race thumb shifters.

I'm still enjoying riding it a lot.

wondering if this Astral Blue colour offered only one year

asking because do not believe have seen it previously

is seat tube interior stepped and factory fitted with a shim?

this would explain the 24.0mm size saddle pillar

Hi juvela.

I did not know the exact year of this bike until I researched the available online Peugeot catalogs.

Best I recall there were a few other models with this color.

It looks more green to me than blue.
Sort of a blue green or rather green blue I guess.

At any rate I'm really enjoying it.

I rode it 33 miles today and everything just seems to work well on the build .

No shim that I could detect in the seat tube.

when looked at the first image thought perhaps colour was being affected by the lighting but then as saw the remaining images could see it a "new to me" hue
