Dx-4000
Here is my 1982 (estimated from components) Panasonic DX-4000 with Champion Motocross tubing by Tange. Dressed with Suntour Cyclone M-II derailleurs and Dia Compe Gran Compe NGC 400 brakes.
It even has the original Panasonic tires!
It's my only bike and I commute on it everyday 30km.

Ah, you're talking about the bike in Elk Grove I assume? I have some pics of that bike here.
If you snag if for $120 you got yourself a heck of a deal. Even with the Nitto stem my Team is still a bit on the small side for me to ride comfortably for longer distances. I really like the way it rides though... almost feels good to go over railroad tracks!
Anyhow, if the bike you are looking at is the same one I am thinking of it is pretty much stock original (unlike mine). Specs below. Oh, and my Nitto stem happened to be free thanks to the previous owner of my Team America sending it to me a week after purchase along with a few other extra parts.
1985 Panasonic Team Factory Specifications
* List Price: $399 USD (approximate)
* Frame: Tange Cr-Mo Double butted tubes (Champion No.2) with pin stripe, Forged ends, Lostwax seat lug.
* Fork: Tange Cr-Mo, AC-2 crown, Forged ends
* Handlebar: SR CTD, Maes
* Stem: SR CT
* Saddle: Selle Italia Mundialita with SR CT-P5E micro adjusting seat post.

* Shifting Lever: Shimano Z408, Brazed on down tube mounted (top)

Since I am sort of into Panasonics I have my mail reader (Thunderbird) set up with a half billion Craigslist RSS feeds from around the country (and world). It took some time to build the list but it is handy now that it is done.
I do post occasional ebay/CL Panasonic finds of the day on the Panasonic mailing list group (found on my web site) as well as here in the forums.

Woo Hoo! I am now the proud owner of a stock 1985 Panasonic Team! Even my wife is amazed at its great condition. All for a whopping $125... Just needs some minor adjustments and it's ready for its maiden voyage. I'll post pics when I get a chance! Sweet vintage steelio!

Congratulations on the team. I saw one for sale locally on CL today for $150 but I was unable to get in touch with the seller in time. Let us know how the ride goes!

Goes well. However, that Mundialita seat needs to go. My 2008 arse is not what it was in 1988. Would it be blasphemy to put a modern-era selle san marco on it? Also, the bars are 40cm. It would be a lot comfier with 44's. My wife says "so it's going to be a $200 bike after all"... Little does she know.

1985 Sport 500 I picked up for my son. All original except for the tire tubes. It even still has the plastic film on the headbadge.

Looks very nice Redspoke! Man, I wish my Team frame were more that size so I could ride it longer distances.
What kind of rims does your Team have? Looks like one or both were replaced?
My Team with Shimano 600... I think I actually prefer the look of the stock Sugino ALP cranks to mine.

I have a year unknown Panasonic Villager III, Positron SIS and front freewheel, bulletproof bike that while a bit heavy, is a lot of fun to ride and certainly takes you where you need to go.

Post a photo and/or serial number and we can probably help you out with the year. The V3 was around from 1981-1984.

Prince has better stuff than Purple rain! R.L. Burnside s about as close as i get to Prince these days. If you are not familiar with R.L. he is like Prince over 60 y.o. wishing his plumbing would still work. Blues at it's best!

Anyone have an idea of how large a tire my Team will accomodate? The more I think about it, the more I want to make it a cross bike. It looks like the stock Dia Compe calipers COULD take pretty big tires. Anyone know for sure?
Edit: Duh! Forgot to think about the lower stay clearance. That would also play a factor. I'll do a little more research before asking questions.

I'm in need of help and hopefully you Panasonic connoisseurs out there can assist me. There is a Panasonic frameset with seatpost and spider crankset at the lbs for $65 and i have a few questions about it. Alright so I've looked through all of the catalogs at the Panasonic Bicycle Museum and a handful of threads here however I cannot seem to figure out what this bicycle is. I actually don't have any photos since i'd feel sketchy taking them at the shop. I'm guessing it is a late 80's, early 90s bicycle because the head tube sticker/badge is the "P" seen in the photograph of ZeRinger's 1988 bike on page 1. The frame's color is white starting at the headtube fading to silver while the fork is blue with the bottom quarter chromed. Nothing even came close in the catalogs. It had forged drop outs i believe with water bottle bosses and cable guides on the top of the top tube. I suppose that a lot did get changed around since it had risers and a Simplex rear derailleur. Oh and it was of CrMo steel however i did not catch the manufacturer and I have also not seen any similar steel decals. Any direction/ideas/thoughts on price would be very appreciated!
