Losartan and Riding
Losartan was scripted to me by my care provider saying our goal is no side effects. Losartan has done little good and today I知 discontinuing use. The light headedness is getting dangerous while riding. My doc gives me liberty to adj dosage as needed. At the start of this my BP was normally 135-140/65-70. Not very high but just wanted to get me on it being I知 a well controlled Type 1 diabetic. He says my kidneys will appreciate it by time I知 75. Side effects suck and even moreso when my BP is not critically high.
Does anyone here take it?

I take it and have no problems. My doc says that if I would lose 20 lbs I could get off the med. So far I've not focused on that, because I figured out experimenting that losing 20 much weight would mean enduring uncomfortable hunger for a while.

I used to take losartan and didn't have any issues. It didn't make a big difference to my BP though. Turmeric made a bigger difference to my BP than any of the prescription drugs I've tried (losartan, amlodipine, valsartan).

I've taken it for about six years, BP improved with the added separate HCTZ. The two go well together. My diet and exercise are very good. BP due to long time family history of High BP. No problems or issues with the Losartan.

I take it recently had to go to 100mg and 12.5 mg of HCTZ. I have taken it for years and generally ok I have a family history of HBP and I have had is since I was 14 years old. A teenager with HBP is rare but that is me and now at almost 59 I have taken meds for all these years. I am not fat and running and cycling for 42 years seems to have cause others to wonder why I have it but...............who knows. It can spike high at times and I have terrible white coat syndrome. I can make it go up just getting nervous.

I've been taking it for years with no side effects. My previous BP meds caused a persistent dry cough.

I’ve been taking it for several years. Haven’t noticed side effects. When paired with amlodipine it got my pressure too low, so Dr switched out the amlodipine for something else which isn’t working to lower my BP seeing the cardiologist soon to figure it out.

In addition to the lightheaded feeling there is slight blurred vision that lasts throughout the day. Seems as though the only noticeable diff to the bp reading is during a hard ride (I ride a Cannondale Criterium and committed to getting faster). Last week my post ride bp was 98/55. I may disco the script entirely and monitor as usual. I will not ride under even mild conditions of these drug related side effects.

I have taken a different ARB for years with no side effects unless I take too much. Do you take your BP every day? You can get good BP measuring devices on amazon cheap. Your lightheadedness is what I get when my BP is too low (it can get to 95/40). when it gets low you can't even ride a bike uphill as you can't pump enough blood to your quads.

I took Losartan for a couple of years and it didn't do me any good; with and without HCTZ. However, I never had any side effects from the med. Another doctor took me off the Losartan and put me on Amlodopine and the HCTZ and my B/P is now in the one-teens. No side effects from the Amlodopine either.

The only side effect I noticed was itching.
Lightheadedness and dizziness could be due to slow HR.

Take two BP meds: losartan and metoprolol. No dizziness, but the metoprolol limits my heart rate. It's long and slow for me.
