I did. Nine months in Afghanistan let me build some savings . The Van Dessel was more of a whim purchase. However, I figure I'll use both bike regularly. The Pivot was as intended - longer travel carbon mountain rig I can race and ride for fun. Going to sell my other MTB, Trek Fuel EX8. Should pay for my racing next season.

Robncircus:

Do yourself a favor and get rid of those Kendas. Every Kenda is slower than its counterparts in their respective categories. That bike is made for hauling ass both up and down the mountain, and is begging for some Nobby Nics.

Oh, and thank you two guys for your service.

Yeah I'll have separate race wheels for race days The Nevengal is popular here, due to the very loose and dry conditions. Good training tire, but slow race tire.

Thank you for your service. I worked with some Rangers while I was there. Good dudes.

Always a fan of CAAD10s! I'd rather have a CAAD10 over a Supersix.

Fark, bike with Stinger 6 is still at a zaftig 7.9kgs. At least it's lighter than the 8.15kg with clincher wheels...

Well fark it, i ain't a grimpeur, so none of this is going to matter. Pics to come.

Ahhhh my new ride is sweet. Will post pics as soon as I can.
Setup in race trim should come in right at UCI standard with aluminum cockpit, THomson Masterpiece (which arrived this morning) etc. Super stoked to ride it today.

rk, is there any carbon contact points on your bike? I assume the frame was quite svelte?

my zaftig bike (1300g frame) is 17lbs with tubulars! Even if I assume that your bike is 1050 g, that's still 16lbs with aluminum parts. The only things carbon on my bike are the fork and one headset spacer.

Came in at 16.4 with my 2500 gram wheels on and an EC90 seatpost (Thomson Masterpiece in now).
As for carbon? Frame/Fork, one spacer, and that's it. As I am a larger fella I am not by any stretch worried about weight as I race bikes not a parking lot poseur Cavs Venge was 16.5 pounds in race trim at the Tour. Weight isn't everything.

Only in 'merica and Liberia could the populous be so dim as to not realize how much easier metric measures are. Or, realizing exactly that, refuse to adopt their use except in engineering circles.
