I'll fall on that sword... I'll take one for the team. I'll do it for Jerry Kraynick.

According to this source, there were reproductions made around 1985. Still C&V but not quite the find that an original would be. Don't know if that was supposed to be repros of both the 300 and the standard spacelander, but I'd assume so?

I feel like I've seen more photos of 300's than 10, since you posted this.

But who knows? I've only seen the 1st and 2nd generation models in person, never one of the 3rd generation.

Didn't know whether to post this under saved from the dump or here but the price is right for a schwinn /ducks 1950s Mens Schwinn - $45 (Galt) 00S0S_16IqJtc1iRU_600x450.jpg
That's a chunky looking light system. I'd post more 80s road bike finds but I know next to nothing about them

After thinking about it over the weekend, I purchased the 87 Schwinn Tempo in Raleigh that I pointed out was listed for $75. The owner wanted to keep the saddle so he sold the bike to me for $60! It has a ton of touch-up paint where the seller sanded off rust beforehand. I consider it a theft deterrent. It appears that someone rode the heck out of this bike in the past.
It is a 23" and probably an inch too short for me, but I'll see if I can make it work. The longer stem shouldn't be a problem although finding a longer 26.6mm seat post might be. The components may need a good degreasing too- the brakes don't want to recenter after you let go of the levers - one spring seems to pull harder than the other. I like doing that kind of work anyway. I'll need to replace the crankset with something that goes smaller than 42 teeth too.
If this turns out well, I may start looking for a 1988 Tempo model when they first made a 24" size. Or upgrade to a Super Sport. Even though the Tempo has eyelets, fitting fenders would be tough. I think the widest tire I can run is 28mm. Sorry, Jan Heine!
Now I need to sell my Sam Hillborne. I don't ride much and I need to money towards my daughter's sport. I'll try to ride the Schwinn more, but at least I won't feel bad not riding a $60 bicycle!

This Raleigh Technium Competition looks like a good buy. 531 tubing, newer ritchey headset, bb, cranks, chain. Too small for me and I've got too many projects and not enough time to ride anyway
Vintage Raleigh Technium Competition Frame and Fork $70

I think the Technium line was a cover-all for dis-similar materials. I believe it's 531 tubing and aluminum lugs. I don't believe Reynolds lugs were ever "531". There was apparently a 753 version as well.

Well, here's another research project to add to the list... and of course a Google search leads me right back here to the BF.
Ahh, here we go! A search for "Raleigh Technium Peak" yielded this nugget:
The Peak was Raleigh's top of the line mountain bike in the early 90's. John Tomac made the Technium line emmensely popular. The frame featured Easton E9 anodized tubing, bonded to cold forged steel lugs, which provided an amazingly stiff but compliant ride quality.

Elsewhere on the internet is a Raleigh Technium Competition all original (?) and with better pictures listed for $349...
Mystery solved?
"Reynolds 531 Frame Tubes"
I know there were also titanium and aluminum frames marketed under the technium name. I think the 460's (all aluminum?) are more common though.

Yeah, the deeper I look, the more convoluted it gets. I'm thinking the "Technium" name was a marketing term derived from the frame-building process of bonding metal tubes into dissimilar lugs with adhesives.

Oh man, this would be perfect for my 11 year old. too bad I just found a different (racier) bike for her (thread coming soon!)...
https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/6136057955.html
Bridgestone RB-T Touring/Road Bike - $250 (Jamaica Plain)
model name / number: RBT
size / dimensions: 52-ish
Here is a lovely Bridgestone that only needs a little love/customization and it could become a very nice workhorse commuter, tourer, road bike, whatever you want really. It's a 52 - probably best for you if you are between 5'4'' and 5'8''
It has V-Brakes like a mountain bike - great stopping power. Safe!
The front wheel is a bit wobbly - I have a spare wheel, a better one too! But it doesn't match. You can have the spare wheel for free -it's got a Campagnolo hub and a Mavic rim but needs a rim strip.
The clearances are great so you could put pretty big tires on it and take it down some dirt roads.
It has a three chainrings up front, that's called a triple, and is great for climbing big hills! The bar end shifters are fool proof and while a bit dated - they are super reliable.
do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers
