Vintage MTB frame of unknown provenance
Here's another one from the rafters: A steel MTB frame that I purchased from a LBS many moons ago (just before the turn of the century, if I recall). I purchased it covered in primer, without any decals or other identifying marks; even so I could tell it was a decent quality frame. I rattle-can'ed it dark grey, and built it up and rode it for a number of years before moving the parts over to a different frame. This frame is actually slightly too large for me; otherwise I would probably build it up again into something new.....
Anyway, here are the details:
I think I might have paid $75 for this thing back in the day, and I would love to get that back out of it, but if that seems ridiculous, let me know. Shipping will be extra, and will be a pain in the butt, but I'm pretty sure none of you are local to me..... (Mississippi Gulf Coast)
Anyway, thanks, hope this can find a new home!
Anyway, here are the details:
- Definitely steel (magnet sticks to it; tubing diameter is too small for aluminum)
- Seat tube 20.5" center-to-center
- Top tube 23" center-to-center
- Head tube 5-and-a-smidge
- Chainstay 17.5" from the center of the BB to the center of the dropout (is that how these things are normally measured?)
- Forged dropouts spaced 100mm front and 128mm rear
- Double eyelets on the dropouts front and rear
- Canti bosses with cable hanger in rear (with adjuster, woo hoo!!)
- Rack eyelets on the seat stays
- No-name headset
- Threaded 1" steerer - takes a "normal" 7/8" quill stem
- Downtube shifter cable stops, chainstay shifter cable stop, chain hanger peg
- Plastic shifter cable guide under bottom bracket
- 68mm bottom bracket shell
- Serial number stamped on underside of bottom bracket - "M7I 28438" - does that ring a bell for anybody?
- At some point I "encouraged" a bit of extra chainring clearance....
- Weighs 9 lb 6 oz

Anyway, thanks, hope this can find a new home!
