Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But, I don't know how that stuff works. I just drive it and leave the rest of that stuff to the Big Johns of the world. I'd just f it up if I tried to wrench anything on today's cars.

The same thing happened with Lance one year, and the football guys in particular were all up in arms over his nomination. I myself have some feelings that would not sit well on this forum. They may do well to have sub categories for that award.

I just can’t put a bike away too dirty. Mine get hosed off with a gentle, low-volume spray on sweaty or muddy days. However, I just changed the cassette on the R3 and thought I was going to have to use a torch and a hammer to free it up. I wonder how much of that was sweat and how much rinse.

I think I've only ever washed a road bike a few times. Almost never, actually. Even when I have ridden in the wet I just use Pledge. I wash the mtb once in a while but it goes in mud.

I worked on my two main rides this afternoon. I put a rack and a bar end mirror on the Trek 930 and cleaned the threads and put blue loctite on the nds of the cartridge bb of the Paramount. I was surprised to see rack/fender brazeons on that bike. They had to be special ordered by the op. If that bike could talk, I would love to hear what it has to say.

Veloshine for the win. I do ride in rain and snow, so sometimes I do have to bust out the hose.

Speaking of silver, does anyone know if Windex is OK to use on tarnish/other?

I've seen some of the internets say yes. Others, no.

Ebay keeps getting stranger. Recently, I've been receiving offers on items that I put on my 'Watch List', generally within a day or so. Usually, I don't respond, because the offers aren't THAT great anyway.

Now, Ebay is sending me messages that the offers have expired, and what am I going to do about that, anyway?

Same thing I did about the offer - Nothing.

Mackinac Island update:

A little cloudy, the cannon seems to be fending off intruders from St. Ignace.

Not on Mackinac, unfortunately. That's an update from a friend.

It wasn't that bad in PHX today, bit still too hot. We had some spotty cloud cover which was very nice.

And they had the gates open on the Central Ave lateral off of the Arizona Canal.
